The entire transmission was replaced in mine and it's still doing it. I just gave up and use a Range device. Hopefully in the future they come up with a real fix, like remove AFM, yeah right...

Hey Bwrin, are you saying you had the transmission vibration, used the Range device, and now have no vibration? Because if so, I may have to try that. My vibration is getting pretty bad.

My trans strated slipping at 70mph. Then it went completely out. I had to pull car over turn it off waited for about 3min then started car drive for about 2 min and it did again repeatedly. Car would go into gear soon as I start it up, but if I wait too long and try to put it into gear nothing.

That's correct. The vibration only occurs when in V4 mode, so using a Range prevents V4. The Range device isn't perfect by any means. I've had plenty of CEL's with it, but I've found a method where I don't have any issues. If you want to know how I do that, let me know.

So, maybe a dumb question. Can we just pull the fuse for the AFM to disable V4 mode then?

No, that disables the Afm actuators in the exhaust. Since their position is monitored, you'll throw a code. The only way to deactivate AFM (short of tearing the engine apart) is an aftermarket tune or the range device. If warrantee wasn't an issue, I'd get the tune in a second.

Just went out on my lunch break to see about this V4 shudder thing. I put the page up on my instrument display where it tells you V4 or V8 mode, all my vibrations and other weird noises only happen in V4 mode, once it goes to V8, it's smooth like a hot knife through butter. Learn something new everyday....
I was reading about that Range device, found one on Amazon for around $188, mostly good reviews, some bad. Been reading where they haven't updated the firmware on them to reflect the 6th Gen Camaros....now I'm torn on what to do....I definitely do not want AFM enabled anymore. |

I guess I didn't realize there was a difference. My shudder happens when in V4 mode under light acceleration, although it seems to always have some sort of imbalanced feeling when in V4. I have a V6, and when it's in V6, it's buttery smooth.

I've done a bunch of testing to figure out how to make the thing work without issues and shared all of this info with Range (I have a beta module) so hopefully they can implement some fixes. I have mine connected to an extension cable that has a switch inline. I plug it in initially, start the car, and all is well. The problem I've always had was when I shut the car down and came back to leave again. I would sometimes get a CEL during startup, probably 60% of the time. So now what I do is, when I first get into the car, I flip the switch to on, wait for the Range to go through it's startup procedure and show a solid light, then start the car. When I'm done with my trip, I put the car in park, flip the switch to shut off the Range, then shut off my car. Repeat. Haven't had a CEL in weeks. It's definitely a hassle, but so much better than having to deal with the vibration. Also, if you do buy the Range, make sure you buy it direct from them so you have the latest version. I've heard of people buying them elsewhere and getting an outdated version. |

Well, I solved my shaking and vibration problem before it did any more damage...Traded my car in for a much needed 4WD (I live on the Gulf Coast). I hope everyone gets theirs figured out. OP signing off...

I'm probably going to do the same. Just way too many issues with it already. Going to see what Hurricane Irma does to it first....

Chiming in here. I haven't been able to read the whole thread but it looks like I've got what everyone else has. My car has 12,000 miles on it.
Every time I am cruising on the highway, typically in cruise control (still happens when not), if the Camaro has to put any additional power to maintain speed, but not enough to swap to V8 mode, it vibrates. Very noticeable vibration at that. This didn't happen until about the 11,500 mile mark, this is very new. Some are saying this is normal, others are replacing TC. Is there lasting damage this can cause? The vibration is not huge, but enough to know that somethings definitely not right.
