The V6 will appeal to those of us who aren't out to be boy racers. Per Chevy's numbers the V6 Camaro is the equivalent of the BMW 235i at a $10,000 lower price point.

Forget the mustang comparisons. I'm looking squarely at the euro cars.
Good point. My next car was going to be the new M3 but the quality and performance of the 6th gen has me in "wait for Z/28 or ZL1" mode now.

As far as people talking about my earlier post are concerned I think you will see some magazines do some light mods to the base 2.0t and and easily get into the high 12s. The new V6 is nice, I don't disagree there but mod for mod the 2.0t is going to be faster due to having forced induction.

Time will tell but a few years down the road I expect it to go like this:

V8--massive aftermarket
V6---barely there aftermarket, basic stuff only
I4--small to medium sized aftermarket

I work in the Powertrain plant that exclusively builds the 2.0L Turbo engine & all I'm going to say is that the Camaro Turbo is not EXACTLY like the ATS & CTS.

Just saying that this V6 is the latest, & greatest, V6 from GM.
It is totaly new, for 2016, & they even changed the bore/stoke.

With so much computer time, invested in this new V6, & with the
reviews, from guys allowed to test the 2016 Camaro V6, I bet that
this will be the best Camaro, for the average Camaro driver,
looking for a really cool Camaro

I too questioned the point of the v6 and this coming from a V6 owner.

Now after thinking it through, there are a few plus points to going with a v6. Decent power increase over the stock turbo 4, exhaust note, and the ability to put regular.
Not sure if regular 87 can go into the turbo 4 but im assuming it would require a higher octane, if not then you would certainly need it if you want a power increase. The exhaust note on a v6 with the right exhaust will not sound like a v8 but would sound great for a sports car

The turbo 4 should be able to get great numbers with bolt on and tunes but I question how much the motor can handle? 400rwhp give or take?
Im assuming the v6 will be able to take 500rwhp

Well with either, at least one does not have to buy a new truck lid or patch holes.

That turbo 4 will be able to handle that easy.

Not the engine but the transmission that concerns me. Would the 3160 be able to handle that?

From my understanding the 3160 is capable of a max 370 torque.

The first hurdle to overcome is fueling. On the LHU\LDK, the engine runs lean @ 400 BHP. Then internals @ 450 BHP.

much like the LDK, and current LTG, premium is recommended but not required.

A different LTG, different than the current LTG ??
Prehaps a stronger LTG, for a world class muscle car.
I agree, that this is why, it won't be available at launch...

And guess what the weak link is, that would cause warranty nightmares,
because, RACECAR...

Maybe, just maybe, we will get our wish.... FORGED PISTONS...

No need to go thru the emissions recalibration testing, if your just changing, to forged pistons.
But, this would cause a delay at launch, if it was a late engineering change...

I'm waiting for the full on impressions that the journalist have, because it's either this or a slightly used Saturn Sky Redline.
