Any good ported factory head will do, or look into aftermarket options. I went with PRC255 heads, but they were not my #1 choice. Only went with them for the price and no extra charge for custom size combustion chambers. Other than that they are very limiting as to what rockers you can run(in other words, stock rockers only).

There's a lot, key word being lot, of choices out there to choose from. Decide what you want, your goals and speak with a cam grinder or an experienced ls3 engine builder.
For me, my goal is to to walk 392 hemis and go on day trips/vacations, but I also live at altitude with curving roads to drive on. Not being a Comp Cams fan, I phoned Kip at Cam Motion and we decided upon a complete NA package. Like a lot of others, I want drivability and substantial power increases.....what's best for you is a decision you need to make after doing a lot of research. |

We do a lot of different combo's based on the goals and setup. But for a NA car that does want to maintain a good amount of drivability we have a great setup and even on our junk 91 octane will crack 500 rwhp. We use our defibrillator cam, AI ported stock heads, and follow it up w/ either our ported LS3 manifold and TB combo or do a fast 102/102 setup or take it a bit further and have us port the fast too. Here are some idle clips of the cam btw.

Just remember the cam specs can be smaller with a good port.

There are a ton of options and opinions... I would suggest our Stage II CNC ported heads with a BTR Stage 4 camshaft. The cam specs are 233/248 .619"/.595" 113+5. We can also put together a custom camshaft depending on your goals and we have complete packages.
Please feel free to call or email me anytime with questions. Kind regards, Jordan Priestley 888.308.6007 |

I went with tsp 229/236 625/615 lift cam and prc 260 heads .i made over 500 rwhp on two different dynos and my car drives like stock. When i tell you my car drives like stock im being dead serious. It didnt drive like stock until jannetty tuned it but driveability is known to be very good with the 229/236 cam and you dont lose low end torque

Why are you fixated on a .600+ lift? For that matter, why is everyone stuck on this? Its like the notion that dyno numbers are the defining measure on performance? I can find cars all day long with a smaller lift cam that'll walk circles around some of these monster sticks. Its all about the proper combination of parts working together in perfect harmony. Please try to get this "bigger is always better" notion out of your heads. Remember, the bigger you go the more supporting mods you need. Take your time..do your homework...and put yourself in a position to make an educated decision. Good luck.

.600" lift doesn't determine if a cam is large or not. There's tons of aspects that go into a camshaft. Infact we have some new .600" lobes & .629" lobes that have been making power as good or better than anything we've run & they have lots less sewing machine noise thanks to a new profile.

I won't mention brand but my cam has .647 lift on intake and have no problems with it. Makes great power too.
