iirc, 4WD is 73% of total allocation right now. So, we just didn't get lucky.

I'll be ordering a mid-level 2WD LT in Sterling Gray. MSRP $37,910. Not for me though. This will be a stock unit for the dealership.

Ah, once you try to apply the allocation if you are not part of the 73% it can't be reattempted until the constraint is lifted? Guess I don't understand the exact mechanism.

Anyways I'm sure the LT will go fast regardless. Sterling Gray looks great. All the colors look so much sharper in the videos than on the Chevy webpage, especially that Radiant Red.

I was hoping my Yakima rack on my current Colorado would fit this truck. I figured the bed was the same, apparently not.

One of the reviewers stated that they should be hitting lots by the end of the month, though didn't seem to provide any evidence backing it up. Same one also said there won;t be Canyon driving reviews until the end of April...

The separation between the off-road performance of the Trail Boss and interior upgrades of the Z71 still bugs me. Why force the compromise?

It seems like a solid truck overall but like it’s intended more to reduce production costs than to really improve over the previous generation.

It is an interesting choice. More differentiation between Chevy and GMC. I love the wide stance and ride height of the TB, but the interior of the Z71. With the TB, you're approaching 40k for a WT interior.

I guess they want you to step up to the ZR2 or the Canyon AT4 if you want the "complete" package

That’s my point. The interior of the TB is not great for its price point but the Z71 doesn’t have the improved suspension. It’s just typical GM. Hitting 85% of it but then just phoning in the last 15%. Just do all 100%. I’m still leaning ZR2 but it’s a major step up in cost.

I off road, I go to the desert, I go to the mountains but I also commute to work. Why is GM ignoring people that expect more out of the truck?

I dont get it. Z71 has upgraded interior. $41.5k. TB has upgraded mechanicals. $38.5k. If they put all that together itd be priced at basically the ZR2 level. Which the ZR2 has both a nice interior and the mechanical toys.

TB is only $3k over the WT (assuming the WT has the Turbo Plus engine and 4WD) because it isnt upgrading the interior. What would you expect them to do? Make another trim priced between Z71 and ZR2? Elevate the TB so that it exceeds the Z71 price? Seems like either option drains ZR2 sales.

The Trailboss adds the lift, engine, transmission, 4x4, drive modes, wheels and tires over the work truck.

The Z71 adds all that minus the lift, with a better interior. The Z71 should have had that lift to begin with. The Z71 has always been the off-road oriented package. I doubt the suspension components are a significant part of the increased cost. If anything, the majority of it is the 4x4 components, which the Z71 already has. Adding the lift to the Z71 should realistically have minimal impact on the price. There is no way a 2” lift costs 3k from the factory. I lifted my Z71 3” for about $1500 and that’s paying aftermarket prices.

I think at $41,500, the Trail Boss is a great value. I don't mind the interior at all because it has a lot going for it compared to the previous gen. IMO, the only thing the Trail Boss needs is a lighting package that adds LED headlights, taillights and fog lights.

TB also includes the center console, express up windows, locking tailgate, wheel moldings, full size spare, and locking rear diff as standard features better than the WT.

GMPP offers the 2" lift for the 2023 Colorado for $500. PN pulled from the GM PP Catalog https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-pa...on-ki-84914657 https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc.../order-catalog

So maybe it wouldn't be too bad to just add it to the Z71 and it should be a factory option, but the purpose of the TB is to be a more capable WT not a watered down Z71. Just get a Z71 with the non-factory lift for a better interior if the only desired mechanical difference from TB to Z71 is the lift. Either way, doesn't discount the existence of the TB for people who don't care about interiors. Hell, I bought a 1SS because I just wanted to go fast, leather be damned (though I have since added leather). Also I couldn't afford a 2SS at 21 but I could swing the 1SS haha.
