Interesting ZL1 article

Pulled out an old 2012 GM High Tech Performance magazine featuring the next Camaro ZL1 Super car. Amazing article to read back then, and still today. Found the same article on-line from Super Chevy. Thought it would be good to share.

This quote below blew me away. Was not aware of this about our Rides

Quote:
The '12 ZL1 is one of the first GM cars designed to create downforce, or negative lift. To accomplish this impressive feat, the ZL1 team spent around 100 hours testing at the General Motors Aero Lab (GMAL) wind tunnel, using Computational Fluid Dynamics. The team leaned on GM's Lead Development Aerodynamics Engineer, Tom Froling, as this retired F-16 pilot and aero expert played a big role in helping to form the ZL1's body.

GM Hot Rodders and a retired F-16 Pilot threw a lot into these Rides. No wonder its this good. Sorry if this is a repost. Enjoy

The work that went into the aero on the ZL1 was the reason they said they kept it the same on the '14 refresh. Lots of design thought went into the ZL1 and it's a great car.

Unfortunately the general public thinks it's just a really expensive SS with the corvette engine.

I actually traded my ZL1 for a really expensive SS with the corvette engine and the general public thinks it's an Impala.

LOL. I had a long conversation on a facebook automotive page about this same issue. It required me giving links to different pages on GM and Nascar websites to prove the SS is not an Impala.

One guy said he has folks asking him about his new "MALIBU" SS! That's gotta hurt. The SS is very generic, but I like em.
