Buying a 2011 Camaro 2SS

Hi there, I was wondering what ya'lls opinions are on buying a 2011/2012 Camaro 2SS now in 2017. Im looking to upgrade to a sports car soon, and my top pick is obviously the Camaro SS. Although a few of my friends have said its not a good idea, as its an old car. It will be my daily, but I do plan on taking great care of it, and of course modding it. Again, just wanted toknow what your opiniosn are on this.

I don't buy cars more than 2 years old, usually low mileage 1 year old, or new. If you are going to modify the hell out of it, cool. The drives shaft is about the only thing factory under my car at this point, but I wouldn't rely on it as a daily driver either. Getting to the job is always job 1. If you're modding mechanicals, you will want a second car to daily drive.

There are a lot of low mileage well kept 5th gens out there.
There isn't much that goes wrong with these cars just because of age.

By modding I mean the usual stuff, intake, exhaust, tune wheels, suspension ect. Im bot going to be turning it into a race car or anything, because it will be my daily. My main concern is the year, I know its getting old. I just dont exactly have the money for a newer year like a 2014 or 2015.

With a clean history there is minimal reason a pre owned 2011 can't be a daily driver for many more years as long as you treat it right.

I agree...I use mine as a DD never thought about it being a "Garage Queen"...If the car is within your price range, good condition, good tires, and a good Carfax report pull the trigger...I would also ask about them providing some type of extended warranty and maintenance service...GL...

I bought my 2010 2SS with close to 90k miles on it, and it has 91k on it now. It 's not my daily , but the miles or the year did not scare me.
I am modding cosmetics on it right now, plus a catback and a tune. The car is flawless.
Do your homework about the specific car you are looking at , and have it checked out.

2012 has certain suspension upgrades even in SS form I'd aim for at least a 2012.

A '13 1LE would be the first thing I'd look for

buy the 12. better suspension more included options and better looking dash. 13 added electric steering (little less parasitic hp loss) and deleted the CD player for a touch screen MP3 player.

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

I normally buy new; however, if I was going to buy a Camaro today, I would be looking for the lowest mileage 2013 SS I could find. This is because I like the looks of the 2010-2013s better then any since, it has more then enough power (especially for a DD) for me and I would want the newest of that body style. These cars are very well built and buying an older model wouldn't worry me at all

OP post some info on the car like the miles and whether it was winter stored. It might be a sweet car or one worth a pass. We can't say without knowing more about it.

6-7 years isn't an old car. So long as it was well kept you'll be fine. I'd lean towards '13 or later though. Suspension is better, MyLink, etc.

I would love to get a '13. But so far the only '13 I have foumd for Convertables.. and I hate convertables lol. Most of the '11s ive looked at have been in prettu good condition. Good milage, no accidents, ect. I was just concerned about when it get 10 years of older, it is an American car.

But thanks for the advice on the '13s. Ill try my best to find a good '12 or '13.

Why the negative opinion of American cars. I've had a few vehicles, all Chevys, that have gone well beyond the 10 year mark. Had an '82 Corvette that was still running and looking great when I sold it in 1998 with 150K on the OD. Had an '87 Callaway Twin-Turbo Corvette I sold in near perfect condition in 2005 with over 60K. When I sold a '92 Camaro in 2007 it had over 200k on it and still ran and looked great. Gave the 2005 Monte Carlo SS we bought new to my daughter a few years ago that had over 100K on it the time and it is still running strong and looking great today with almost 200K. Additionally, none of these vehicles had any significant issues out side normal wear and tear while I owned them. In my experience, as long as the vehicle is taken care of and not beaten, I've found American cars to last longer and be lower maintenance then many of the 'imports' other family members and friends have owned over the years.
