1SS 1LE arrived. Lot of pics of making it our own.

I picked her up on Thursday. One thing about ordering the Camaro is it gives you a lot of time to spend on Camaro6 researching all the cool things that you can do to it. I want to give back a little and show all the stuff we did to our 1LE to make it our own. We are sooooo impressed and happy with the 1LE. Unbelievable drivers car, looks awesome and a great value.

At my request the dealer did not wash or detail the car. I spent the afternoon detailing the 1LE with my wife. First was power spray then foam cannon, power spray, hand wash, iron-x for the rail dust, then clay bar, then wash. Did a little hand polishing on a few spots and finished with a nice coat of Pinnacle Signature Series II carnauba paste wax. Overall the quality of the paint is pretty darn good. I give it an 8 out of 10.

My wife loves to detail cars like I do and is a gear head too. Got to love that!

The first order of business was to swap out the tail lights, third brake light, and rear emblem. All went smooth with the install and I really like the look.

Looking good! The rear looks so much better now. I gotta get me one of those blowers / driers. I saw one in action the other day and it kicks my leaf blower’s ass.

Next was to change the front gold bowtie to black. I read about different ways to do this and most involved taking stuff apart to get to the back of it or prying it off with trim tools. I was not going to keep the gold bowtie, so this is what I did and it worked great.

The first pic is the back side of the black bowtie. You can see four clips. The arrows point in the direction you need to push the clips to remove the bowtie from the grill. Using the new bowtie, I located where to drill 1/4" holes to access the correct side of the clips to push. Just drill slow and as soon as you break through the bowtie, stop. Used a small allen wrench to push each clip and it came off with ease.

Thanks! The blower was definitely a good investment. Bought it through autogeek.net.

Next was to install Diode Dynamics smoked side marker lights and ZL1 addons deluxe rock guards. This was a good time to put her up on my new lift.

By the way, a couple months ago we finished our 30' x 40' shop, added AC/heat, a lift and other stuff. I'm 51 and spent many years on my back, in the cold, heat, etc... This is soooo worth it to be comfortable while wrenching on our cars.

I also installed the ZL1 addons jack points that mount permanently to the pinch welds. They are very nice.

While the wheels were off my better half did more detailing. Did I mention I love my wife!

I had read about making sure there is small amount of grease around the center of the wheel where it makes contact with the hub, which it did. I added a little more just in case.

I definitely think the wheels were not fully torqued down as arrived. The nuts broke loose way too easily. I torqued them to 140 ft*lbs. Something I recommend checking on a new car.

Picked up a nice non-marring 22mm socket.

Before installing the new tail lights, I put in the LED reverse lights with resistor. They are bright! Also added LED license plate and trunk lights.
