What gearing is in the m6?
If it's the transmission ratios from the zr1, with the .67 sixth gear, Hennessy is full of shit. back when the zr1 was released, GM said that trans was specifically selected to be able to keep pulling in 6th gear |

Car and Driver reported that ZL1 manuals have a sixth gear ratio of .54:1 in their ride along recent article. I seem to recall someone had posted the ratios for the six speed manual, but couldn't find it in a quick search...

The 13 to 15 zl1 was very slow . I know 3 people that had the. Could never get below 12 in the 1-4 mile. One of them just raced a stock 17 ss and lost by 1/2 car. And yes both are auto .

So far as I know...nobody has published the exact ratios for the manual. I know that first gets the car to 60...and I'd bed with money there's a 2.29:1 there, given the 3.73 rear end (did the math...Z06 uses the same ratio)...and C&D gave us the .54 in 6th... We can probably assume 1:1 for 4th....so that just leaves three more gears. It wasn't..."very" slow.....but yeah. It wasn't the quickest. That car had a weight problem, and GM engineered it more for the track than the strip. It did f'ing awesome for what it was, though.... |

Main reason the gen 5 zl1 was disappointment Is if you took a 1ss and put a $6k supercharger on it it would smoke the zl1. Just don't see how gm couldn't make it faster.

And the ZL1 could do $6000 in mods and smoke the SS.

And after adding the supercharger, you have no warranty, no beefed up rearend, no upgraded transmission, no MRC, etc etc. So yo have a noSS.

nobody that's a real car guy is worried about a warrenty. And if Chevy puts the supercharger on you have full warrenty.

The gearing must be really off if this car is running out of steam at 173, maybe the computer is limiting fuel at that number? Example the 16 Scatpack 392 will run up to 182 with only 485 -hp.

I'm beginning to think that we need to start a "real car guys" support group on this site...somewhere in a corner nobody reads.

5 years 100,000 miles? Does the $6000 include beefed up internals on the engine like the ZL1? I guess you will need all the extra money you saved when the engine, tranny and rear end start to break because they weren't built for that much power. Sorry, but an SS is not a ZL1 without the supercharger. A real car guy would know that.

So many opinions... I wonder what supercharger you got for 6k? Unless you do the install, do the tune, and have a free dyno... not hitting the SS, its bad too. I bought the ZL1 simply because at another 16k? I would not have the car the ZL1 is. MRC? Huge. The TC? Huge. All the trick money savers like coolers and driveline? Huge. Finally, the warranty? Car guys don't care? I've been a car guy since age 3, Warranty? Huge. I've dealt with billionaires, and yes, they care about warranties as well. Apples to apples and oranges to.. well you know...
