Awesome. Once again we went from an intelligent discussion to gender bias in less than a few minutes.
The truth is he was driving uphill pulling a trailer and he had the e brake on. 173 is not top speed as evidenced by the Nurburgring video. Drive hard, live fast! |

I wonder what he was pulling in the trailer?

OK, I apologize for being rude. I did not listen...
173 is unimpressive. Modern diesel germans can go faster. If this is the only manual u can get,I'd go with an auto. Even though before this video I wanted a stick. |

Well actually he let's off then shifts to 6th gear and let's off the gas in that gear and continued to slow down. It also would make a difference if he had a head wind. Maybe he should have ran in both directions to be more accurate. Oh and remember he is trying to sell his upgrades and I guarantee that will break 200 even if he has to cheat with nitrous like he did with the vette.

6th is like .5 so I am not surprised if it doesn't have enough power to overcome that but look at how hard it was pulling still in 5th. Going to 6th would put it at <4000rpm at that mph.

Looks like he hit 6700rpm in 5th. I'm pretty sure he hit the rev limiter and that's why it cut out at 173. He shifted into 6th gear after the rev limiter hit but never tried to accelerate So we don't really know if it would still be pulling in 6th. My guess it is would still pull a bit but the acceleration would drop off dramatically and also would depend if he was going into the wind or if you are going up a slight incline or not.

I'm pretty sure the 202 mph he did in his m6 SS HPE700 was in 6th gear too. Is 6th different .5 (ZL1) vs .74 (SS) or something? Both use a .373 rear.

If that's the 6th gear ratios of each, that is a huge difference! Much easier to pull with the .74. I would think .74 should be close to 5th in the ZL1.
