3 years 36k warranty yea right!!

After searching for about a month finally found My Garnet color ZL1 and I really like the car although besides driving it home from dealership about 150 miles have not been able to drive it. In the North east yet another nor easter coming and with these tires, the cold temps(27 degrees) and the sandy roads Im sure u know. Anyway when going over the paper work at the dealer they start off with I should pay them another $5000 to add to the warranty I say no the the 3 yr 36k bumper to bumper should be fine as I will probably not have the car past 3 yrs anyway. The dealer informs me that it is only actually a 12 month 12k bumper to bumper and after 12 months the warranty is only good on what GM would decide was defective parts. So anything that breaks after 12 mos gm will tell u if your covered or not after they determine if the part was defective or not. What gives! Does everyone know about this?

Why would you believe the dealer? He's full of crap… Read the warranty here ....Makes you wonder what else he's lying to you about.....

Nope, never heard that one before. I know the warranty only covers factory defects, but the info you were given does not match the book that comes with the car.

I think you are safe in calling B.S. on this dealership. It is a 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. it is in the manual. I would ask the service manager to call his GM zone manager and put him on speaker phone.

Not true. I work for a dealership. It definitely comes with a 36/36 bumper to bumper. If you bought the car certified used it will give you an additional 12/12 on top of the 36/36.

Post up the dealer's name. That's worse than a tire shop not knowing what air is.

Really??!! I can't believe a sales guy at a dealer would tell a lie to squeeze more money out of someone! Next you're going to tell me that everything on the interwebz isn't true.

I agree, post who who the dealer is, that is a real scumbag tactic. Sad thing is the manufacturers never give the dealer crap about doing such things.

These clowns will say anything to get you to buy the extended money maker, eeerrrr warranty.

I'd call him out for his BS and tell him that you are notifying GM that he's telling customers this BS in order to sell these extended warranties.

He is partially wrong and right. The 12 Month Bumper to Bumper he means is the taking it in for a rattle in the dash, or squeaky knob, or a bump in your trunk. Little nothing stuff like that. Any manufacturer is that way. The mechanical is 3/36 like always.

I say get it in writing: have him email you the extended warranty, the cost, and why you need it.

Then make him eat it.
