Add to that, I just got the C5 back from LG racing so I have a race car now. I'm no longer desperate for this.

I would do crazy things to drop 2-3 seconds off my time! That puts me at Randy Pobst's time at MRLS in the same car (which I doubt is really attainable). Your argument pushes me in the OTHER way, hahahhaa.

Man, I feel ya. I waited 10 months for mine, too.

Everything on my coast is ADM'd. They might show $73K on cars.com but not one place is honoring that. Every dealer I contacted has disclaimers indicating the price can be changed at whim. They suck you in and jacker up.

Buy a regular 2017-2018 zl1 and modify to your liking. The zl1 1le is not worth it. The reason is you don’t need that harsh suspension. You can increase horsepower and beat the 1le easy. The wing is 3500K And the dive planes are 300 and go FBO. Done deal.

Not worth it. You only have 5000 miles on your car. Why throw away your hard earned money?

I went as far as selling the 287 car this week. Got respectable amount for it. GM kept sweetening the offer. Down to about $67. I am really in a bind now because I am, at this very minute, no longer a Camaro owner. AAAAHHHHHHHH. Why'd I do this to myself? Are these things going to be limited production in 19 too?

I believe so. Approx 750 for '19 then that's it is what I heard. Maybe even less if the demand for them isn't there. Which I'd be totally fine with ;-)

So you're thinking less than 1500 cars total production and then off to the refresh? Damn. That's go me rethinking things. How many years before this thing increases in value, lol?

25? 50? Look at the Z/28 prices.

The thing about the Z1LE is as a street car it is not quite as a fit as the standard ZL1. So you are flushing $1,000s down the toilet for a few seconds on the track and of course owning a track monster. I am sure on the track you will car love it, but also even with experienced drivers, more speed = more risk. Having had a friend turn my TT 1LE SS shiny side down at Millville, I was really lucky. He was fine and Farmers paid me for the car. I am still waiting for my commercial. Life is for learning.

And at the end of the day the standard ZL1 is one of the best track cars on the planet. And a great street car. If only we could see out of it.

All great points. I guess now that SeanB is driving a Z1LE I'll have to get used to watching my lap records get beat. Heading out in the 1LE to see what it could do compared to my 'regular' ZL1 times was a huge part of wanting the car.

You're spot on about the safety aspect. I had this exact conversation with Sean a few days ago and it was a big factor in my decision. I'm not buying it to drive on the street. That's a side benefit reserved for it's second owner. But the speeds we're taking these cars are flat out race car speeds...with no cage...no fire suppressor...no harness...no net...etc. To do it bare minimum for safety, you are looking at seat and 5 point. That still has you at a high injury profile. If I pull the trigger, I'm taking it straight to the shop and molesting it to put in $10k cage/harness. Modified car drops $25,000 in value on the drive from dealer showroom to shop and then home. That's throwing $35 out the window in a day.

Or, I wait for the 2019 refresh and buy somebody's 1LE with 20k miles at $45,000 and start over.

If anybody wants it, talk to Scott at Stewart Chevrolet in Colma, Ca.

I like your thinking, though. Cage/harness/fire system in the car will really inspire confidence. Full slicks on that thing and it's a race car, no doubt.

...speaking of slicks. I'm headed to a wedding and will be back Sunday night. Monday I'll be posting all of my track wheels & tires for the ZL1. I have 4 sets. All forged and with race tires on them. BOL.

BC Forged. Forgelines. MRR. Now that I think about it, I have 6 sets. One set is brand new with Hoosier R7's with 24 miles on them (1 run). All others are less than 100 miles. NT01's, Cup2's, Super Sports, etc.

Anyway, I'll post pics & prices sometime next week in the for sale thread.
Teasers
