Zl1 1le slicks

I was wondering if anyone has bought slicks for the 1le and if so what brand and size are you running? I can find some for the rears but nothing for the 305 30 19 up front. Also what else has everyone done to make the car a bit more track ready. Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but I couldn’t find it thanks for info.

I'm using 315 & 325/30/19 Hoosiers for track events.

They work fantastic.

See this thread for a fair amount of detail.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=507167

This weekend at Road Atlanta I'm going to try some 305/690/19 Pirellis DH compound scrubs (from Ferrari Challenge Series).

Love the Hoosiers and they are fantastic on the track but at $2k per set I can only get around 4 track days before they heat cycle out. The Pirelli scrubs are $600 a set and very good on the track. I used them on a prior track car. They are a bit taller than the Hoosiers, but I'm optimistic that they will work. I'll know after this weekend!

Can you post up some data on those after the weekend, please? Interested in tire pressures, temps and what your camber is. I have a set that has been sitting in my garage I may try for a weekend but I'm concerned about pressures with how heavy this car is.

The 345 R7 is just about the same rollout as the 325 G3R and is only ~3mm wider. I went to a Hoosier dealer and measured the 295, 315, 325, & 345. None of them matched up with what Hoosier says on the website. The thread linked by 2010REDSS is very informative showing the 315 a bit wider than the 305 (as it should be) but the 325 R7 smaller (which it should not be). That's why I think 345's will be the way to go in the rear.

Thanks for all the info. I may try these later this year. Were you running the factory suggested toe settings front and rear? (I saw the camber notes in the thread...).

The best fitting DH are the 305's by Pirelli. They do quite well at 30psi hot.

I have 4 Pirelli scrubs, 315/705/18 in the garage that I've never used. You want them, bring me a couple 4 packs of NE DIPA and I'll save you $600. I won't be using them.

In person. No shipping.

A7 are much faster than R7s over one lap. Important piece of data for your intended use.

I chase personal bests every time I leave the hotspots. I’m not into runnin 30 minute seasions. Choose tires accordingly.

Will do. Really hoping the Pirellis work well. Road Atlanta can be really hard on tires, will be a good test.

Yep, I was surprised the 325's were narrower than the Goodyears. The 345's would work in the rear.

Using track recommended alignment for all settings.

Thanks for the note on hot pressure.... appreciated. The Hoosiers run higher pressures than that, and I was going to have to experiment with psi for the Pirellis. I'll use 30psi hot as a starting point and see how it goes. Do they get greasy higher than 30? My FFR GTM was only a 2,400lb car so I knew the Camaro would need higher hot pressures.

Chub2000,

What sizes or those and are they the same size on all four wheels?

I'm also looking for a better tire option at I corded the outside drivers Front after 2 sessions at Willow Springs last week. This was a tire that only had 1 other track day and only a 500 or less street miles on it. Now turn 2 at WSIR is incredibly hard on drivers side tires especially when traveling mid 90's around it but never in 20 year of open tracking have a set of tires lasted this short.

Track alignment -2.7 front for those wondering.

Thanks,
Chad

That was likely the last time I’ll ever run with NASA. It was a shit show the day I met you there. No thanks. (Plus I’m in the middle of going TT on my Vette)

I don’t see a DM. What’s up?
