Low Dyno Numbers need help
2010 camaro M6 LS3
I got cam installed 233/248 619"/595" on 113LSA with TSP 1 7/8 long-tube headers, ported throttle body and Ported intake.I also installed 150 NX plate nitrous sytem with stand alone fuel system. My car already had 3.91 gears,18'' dragstars with 305 45 18 MT and fastlane cold air intake. Car was Dynoed on mustang dyno on motor 458RWHP/413RWTQ on 150 shot 594RWHP/634RWTQ My question are these numbers average on Mustang DYNO? Also what else can I do to get the NA numbers up.Everybody says dyno is a tool but I've seen plenty of cars on here in 490 range with similar bolt ons. Im taking car to local track on Sunday and see what it does in 1/8th. To be contiued......

Don't get hung up on numbers its the before and after you should look at. I just had a night fury cam installed and I also got some low numbers compared to what everyone usually gets (470/480). My car baselined 400/398 and after the cam I got 455/417. I honestly think the elevation of the shop was a major culprit being @ 5200 compared to seeing other dynos in lower closer to sea level conditions. But after looking around I saw most ppl getting an average of 50/60 rwhp on there cams as well. Run it and see what she does.

You're 3.91 gears may also be contributing to the lower HP reading.
I would imagine most of the dyno numbers quoted on here are also Dynojets instead of Mustangs.

Btw mine was a dynojet. My tuner also said something about his dynojet being stingy cuz his was a awd loaded dyno that gives better real world numbers compared to other dynos that are unloaded or something of that nature. Also im running 91 fuel I know the 93 guys will definitely get better numbers cuz of that as well.

MightymouseSS im gone test car sunday and im hoping i can get in 6s in 1/8th on nitrous that was my goal in first place. I guess I was jealous of all these 490-500 rwhp on motor dyno graphs with bollt ons that had me little down.
Destructo09 Ryan said the same thing about gears he installed mine.

My car dynoed 383 Stock and then after 1 7/8 Long Tubes/Catless Leads/3" Exhaust and a 231/234 618 114LSA Cam I got 452whp/425trq, at first I was unhappy with the number but after keeping up with a $250k Benz SLS AMG on the highway im happy with it.

Just for your pice of mind , go to RPM in Garner or Mayhem in Raleigh (dynojet) and do some pulls .
Dynojets *usually* run more consistent from one to another vs mustang dynos.

Track times and MPH is where you need to focus

Without baseline numbers on that dyno, you could ask them what stock LS3s usually dyno on their dyno. Stock LS3s can dyno anywhere from 345-390 rwhp depending on the dyno.
Beyond that, your track times are your best measure of your car's performance. Most of the fastest 5th gens (stock vs stock and modded vs modded) are not the dyno queens pulling high numbers. I've spent enough time in this forum to know which dynoes produce the higher numbers. |

By the spec's it looks like a Tick polluter cam or a BTR stage 4. Either way with such a low TQ number, this is the reason why I did not go this big on my current stick. I bet the graph shows lazy torque below 4000. I have a much smaller cam than yours and it's a freakin stump puller.... Traps 120 on street tires in the heat of the summer.
Unless you have a VVT setup that works like Rhino, the bigger LS3 cams do not work good on the street simply get out performed by a smaller one set up correctly. I'm on cam #3 now with 22,000 miles and I've had big and small. Bigger is not better with this heavy of a car. This is my personal opinion though so take or not. You should really head over to Garner and talk with Ryan at RPM. He will give you good advise. Good luck..... Keep it small and keep it tight!

Yeah, PTV becomes an issue when you get into the mid 230s on the LS3/L92 heads, so sometimes those big cams cant be installed on the centerline it really needs to be at to make power in the middle and down low. A lot of our best LS3 grinds are on 223-228 intake lobes.

110 icl vs say a 108. You'd lose 12-14 thou of intake clearance.

I wonder what the OP's ICL is. I haven't really noticed any missing low end grunt on mine.
