I have standard SS exhaust and had considered going aftermarket, but after hearing it running through gears and cranking while reflecting off concrete, I find it to be loud enough. It just sounds quiet in the cabin, which is deceiving because it's not that quiet from behind it.
It's not as quiet as stock 5th gen exhaust. |

Thanks. I test drove a 2SS today with the stock exhaust and was as impressed as driving one with the NPP

Get the NPP...
Trust me. I just did 24 hours in my 2ss 6speed with NPP... Trust me when I say it makes a big difference.. From the OUTSIDE you can tell.. In the car, somewhat. But even a good friend of mine, Camaro gear head, went full blown exhaust on his 5th gen, said, "I can't believe that is "stock"... Trust me, it is worth every penny. |

Its a great system. The sound in track mode is aggressive and beautiful. If you are an early riser or feel like a more relaxing ride, stealth mode is perfect. Two different personalities in one car for an extra 900 dollars. And as others have mentioned, as an added bonus, you get the painted rear fascia which looks leaps and bounds better than the matte black. Do it. You won't regret it.

I have the standard exhaust and it sounds good, but not quite as good as NPP. Honestly you can't go wrong with NPP or the standard exhaust. One of my favorite things about the new Camaro is the exhaust isn't too loud or quiet...but it is definitely aggressive when you get on it! It sounds very similiar to the Corvette IMO.

Hey Nancy - I have the 16 with NPP and love it, but I have never been a fan of super loud cars. The NPP is perfect. Hope all is good with you. Conrad

Yes, I know the NPP is the cat's meow, having it in my 1LE...but the '16 I test drove didn't have it and I was just wondering, so I put the question out here. I more or less knew what the consensus would be, but ya know it's always better to get an informed opinion for the Camaro community. So, not going to settle, and get one with the NPP. |

The standard exhaust does have it's benefits: Less stuff to break (the exhaust is a harsh environment for valves) & doesn't seem to be causing any difference in power compared to NPP.
I would drive both and make a decision based off that, which it looks like you have already done. |

They did the Chevy Performance Exhaust option that is available for the SS currently. Don't know if they did the stock exhaust, they may have.

I did not go NPP but knew I planned to go aftermarket. I give zero f***s about being quiet . Man mode for life.
