Tuning and swaping gear before or after?
Hello,
I want to do a tuning but I also want to change the gear ratio. Should I change the gear before doing the tuning or it does not matter? Thanks for your answers |

Your going to have to update the gear ratio in the tune anyway, so I'd do them at the same time. If you can't afford to do both at the same time, I'd tune first IF your tuner will provide the gear ratio update for free or a steep discount. If your tuner want's to charge you for a complete retune, do the gears first and save some money, but understand that your speedometer and odometer will be off until your tune is done.
I can't imagine your tuner not updating you for free though, it's literally a 5 minute job to update for the gears.

You need a speedometer recalibration when you swap the gear, which will cost less than a full performance tune. At a minimum get this recal done at the same time as the gear install. You don't want to drive around with the wrong speedometer calibration and risk getting tagged as "true miles unknown".
