Dynamatting Convertible sub opening.

has anyone tried this to enclose the area where the sub goes to have a larger volume of air to work with? In the pic I would think that using dynamat on the front and the back wall to seal the entire support area instead of just the small enclosure in the middle of the seat.

Awesome idea. Maybe an aftermarket sub, amp, and sealing this up will be the difference I have been looking for. I think the stock stereo is pretty good, but sometimes when you are cruising with the top down, it just isn't loud enough!

I agree the stock sub seems to cut out at about half to 3/4 volume, and with the top down it is definitely noticeable.

The factory stereo is made to cut back the bass output from the stereo the louder you turn it up. That's why you hear virtually no bass. I don't think Dynomatting wont help you very much. The factory subwoofer is designed to be a free air system. Plus a sealed enclosure needs to be very rigid. You would have to swap the sub out for One that can be put into a small enclosure. I was thinking of doing this.... https://skexies.wordpress.com/2013/0...o-convertible/ Then run a Fosgate small enclosure 10 inch woofer with a small amp and a line out converter that sumerizes the output from the stereo so bass doesn't disappear the louder you turn it up. http://www.amazon.com/AudioControl-2.../dp/B01EDFPNSG
