Messed Up Now

Well I was trying to mess around and find the problem with my suspension and I think I just messed up more now.

Any suggestions, be nice!

Did you break the top of the strut?

Before you were unscrewing that nut, where did those savings of metal come from?

I don't think you are supposed to just start unbolting that. I think the suspension needs to be compressed first.

yea its on the ground just sitting there, I took the top part off to look at that rubber thing. Yes it broke the top of the nut off so now it wont go back on and I guess that means a whole new strut?

Yes, but I think before you can unbolt it you need to relieve the pressure by compressing the suspension with the car off the ground.

You broke of the threaded part of the strut rod. You will need to replace the strut. No way around it. Do not drive it as-is.

Were you just turning the bolt with nothing to keep the strut piece still (allen or whatever it is)? How much of the threads is still on the strut? Mine come up way pastthat bolt to hold the cover on, if there is enough thread you may not need a new strut, just cant put the little cover thing back on

Edit: nm...you wont be able to still use it as the top part broke so you wont be able to keep it from spinning to torque it down
