LT1 Swap?
Hey. I may post in Camaro5 forum too, but I was wondering how hard it would be to do the LT1 swap on a gen5 SS. They engine & throttle controller is ~$8k USD. Not looking into this right now, but seeking info...

Its port fuel injected
Doesn't have any VVT, or AFM. Makes enough power, and cheap to mod/fix. The LS3 is probably the best thing to come out of GM in the last 20 years. Followed by the LS7/LS9. Keep in my I drive a LT1 stingray, so its not like i even own a LS motor car right now. That should say something... Its my dream to swap a LS7 in my C7 one day. |

I just figured if I decide to do it in a few years, it's a new motor instead of modding an aging motor. It may be a new car, who knows at this point. I'd love a 2016 2SS, but not yet

Yeah man just go for the whole car. It's the smarter choice.

I'm curious how it's the smarter choice. I understand the performance aspects, but financially or otherwise it's not the smart choice. Let's assume his car is paid for and he wants some more power. Doing a motor swap or any modding is a far smarter choice then going out and buying a ~$50k car, since he wants a 2SS.
Granted I'd rather have the 6th gen over the 5th gen and I personally jump from car to car fairly often, doesn't mean I'm making the smarter choice. Short version: If you have a car that's fine, replacing it with a new one because you want it isn't a smart choice. |
