Door handle snapped. Who made it out of plastic?
We've had a real unusually cold winter down here in Okie Land. Pulled inside door handle & nothing happened. Pulled door panel off, and what do I see? The most worthless plastic loop that WAS holding a steel, yes steel ball on the end of the STEEL cable. No problem, just stroll on down to the dealer and get a door handle. Oh, you say they don't service them? Well, let's just spring for a new $533 door panel, carry out, not installed. That's another hundred bucks. With tax & shop fees, oh, lets just round it up to a cool 700 bucks installed.
I've researched for years to find the guy who invented the 8MM little battery side post bolt you've had to put your jumper cables on for the past 30 years. Apparently, he thought it was funny to sell something so ignorant to a manufacturer. People have been trying to top him for years, but to no avail. I heard he had thousands of death threats and GM put him in a protection program in a small town in Montana. He writes those annoying word finds that waste peoples days away. They say he is in good health and should live beyond 100. Guess since I'll never find him, I'll do the next best thing. Anyone know who designed this plastic piece? I mean him no harm. Merely would like to ask him WHY?? Is it a cruel joke? A strong steel cable hooked to a frail piece of plastic........Imagine where we would be if he designed our military hardware in WW II .......Feel pretty cool wheeling up to work and climbing out the window, Dukes Of Hazard Style!! Gonna spray paint a "01" on my door while I wait a week for my door panel to come in!!!!!!!!!! |

actually I have been thinking about dukes of hazzard and how the doors on the C5 resemble some of that but the window opening isn't big enough to safely egress without opening the door :( I would love to be able to enter/exit through the window rather than opening the door; it just seems "cooler" that way. Unfortunately you can't roll up the window from the outside on the Camaro (which is kinda sad considering import vehicles made 8 years ago can already do that ). |
