Need Help, door won't open

So after I removed and reinstalled the door trim panel it seems I forgot to connect the door latch cable, so now the drivers side door won't open. It locks and unlocks but it won't open. I can acces to the car from the passenger door.

Any ideas on how to remove the trim panel with the door closed?

Any input is welcome.

Thanks

I found a solution, but this does not seem easy, and I could not find full details.
Remove front left fender, which requires removing bumper first. There are several videos on youtube, and this is just one:

You can then remove the door check and I think the hole lets you get access to the release cable. Sounds like you might have to cut the bolts holding the check, or back them out. This post on reddit calls the check the "third hinge."

It does not seem possible to remove the interior door panel without destroying it. I did this on a 1990 accord with a seized latch once, but I was able to bend the door panel enough to get access. The camaro door panel is a beast compared to that, and the cabin is smaller.

Also, keep_hope_alive has a lot of pictures of the door on his build log. He may be able to tell you more about removing the check.

So this is the update in case this happens to anyone in the future. I was able to get the trim cover lose with the door closed. I removed the two gaskets on the top and from there I was able to wiggle the trim cover and reach the latch. At the end it seems that I installed the latch but was not properly seated, once I reached and pulled it the door opened. Damage control: one plastic tab of the trim piece was broken but is not noticeable, considering the options I think it is acceptable.

Yes, it was very relieving when the door opened.

Well, you did fabulous work and avoided all the hassles from the only solution I found!
Since you say the latch was not seated properly, do you think you would have been able to access the pull cable if that had been what you forgot to connect? Seems that is the more common mistake.

Glad it worked out! Although you could've treated it like a race car and just climbed through the window opening

Ha! You mean the super tall windows that can’t possibly reduce outward visibility?

...outward visibility of what, the sky? You must have great driving habits if that's what you're missing

That aside, visibility could definitely be improved somewhat by lowering the beltline and adding to the overall height, but even that wouldn't matter a whole lot, this is a good looking sports car and not a bubble shaped fish tank.

Interestingly, nobody complains about visibility in other cars that cost 2 to 5x more than the Camaro (latest case in point: Aston Martin DB12), but even those sedans that have immovable headrests on top of rear seats that block half the rear windshield are somehow okay. Not saying the Camaro has outstanding visibility, of course it doesn't, but this is a case of memes being very powerful indeed.

(Yeah, I know lowering the beltline and maybe increasing overall height a bit is a redesign meaning recertification that GM would never commit to, this was rehashed a thousand times.)

Thanks!

I mean the first attempt was removing the windows switch (learned that it can be removed very easly) and try to reach from there, but it wasn't on the bottom as it was on the place it suppouse to be. Probably it could be fetched from there with a little luck.

Many years ago I used to drive a Hyundai Tiburon, that had even por visibilty than the Camaro. And yes I agree with the time you get to manage it and there is no real affecation when driving.
