No, he never said no 4 cylinder. He said he would fight for every cylinder and horsepower he could.

LANSING – If the 2016 Camaro has ties to “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” it’s news to Al Oppenheiser, the muscle car’s chief engineer.

Oppenheiser said Thursday at Lansing’s Grand River Assembly plant that General Motors’ filing this month of trademarks for “Camaro Krypton” and “Krypton” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office likely has nothing to do with a rumored special edition Camaro for the Zack Snyder-directed film.

“I think that’s just internet buzz, which is great,” Oppenheiser said. “It’s another thing about this segment of cars: there’s always internet buzz.”

Oppenheiser said the trademarks GM applied for on May 5 likely pertain to a projects GM is thinking about, but might not pursue. The “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” film will be released March 25, 2016, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Scenes were filmed on Michigan State University’s campus last fall.

“Sometimes when we come up with a new color in our studios, they just apply (for a trademark) in case we ever use it,” Oppenheiser said. “We never said we’re going to do anything with that color.”

The 2016 Camaro, known as the Camaro Six, will be built at the Grand River plant and prompted GM to announce Thursday the addition of a second shift this summer that could have up to 500 employees.

GM will recall the 450 employees who were laid off from the Grand River plant in January after the second shift was cut. Once the automaker determines how many positions are left unfilled, it will begin the hiring process. Most of the laid off employees picked up jobs at plants in Delta Township and Flint.

GM plans to invest $175 million for new tooling and equipment at the Grand River plant. That includes three new paint systems for Camaro-specific colors: Summit White, Bright Yellow and Red Hot. The investment also includes installation of two robotic framers, which allow better dimensional control to provide a more precise drive experience.

The first Camaro Six is expected to roll out of the Grand River plant this fall, said Michael Trevorrow, GM’s Lansing regional plant manager.

He never said no 4-cylinder. His quote got twisted by people who didn't want a 4-cylinder.

And besides, what Al wants and what GM corporate orders him to build are two very different things.

Here's the original article. Then a bunch of other people twisted it to say no 4 banger. Some even ran with headlines that stated he had proclaimed no turbo 4.

Just to reinforce your point in November 2013 he told AutoGuide

Some media outlets turned that into headlines reading 'No 4 Cylinder Camaro' or similar, but those article can usually be traced back to the AutoGuide article.

What color would be? According to Wikipedia it could be just about any color.
