V6 Autocross Setups ?

Do any of you guys with a Gen5 V6 have them set up especially for autocross ? I had planned on trying to do some suspension work over the winter but I'm not real sure where to start. I did waste some of my Camaro money on another bike so it's starting to look like I can't just ship it off to Raymonds and tell them to have at it
Right now all I have is my stock suspension. No strut tower or frame connectors or anything. My mods are C.A.I., Elite catch can, Magna Flow cat backs and a Hypertech Max Energy programmer.

Big and obtainable upgrades are take off SS brakes and suspension pieces. Of course going with 4 rear oem SS/rs wheels with 275 all around is another easy upgrade financially.

While dropping off at Raymond's might be out of reach for near future, talking to him for advice and maybe leads on used oem upgrades for ya as well.

2010-2011 benefit from cradle bushing inserts or replacements.

Here's the big question, what class do you want to run in? I think with everything suggested here you might be stuck in CAM or ESP.

Honestly, if your just getting started don't worry about making lots of changes to the car, it will handle better than your skills allow for the time being anyway.

The best thing you can do is get some seat time and take all the ride alongs you can.

We had 1LE shocks, springs, and sways, brembo swapped and were running 20x9 all the way around with an aggressive alignment on our V6 and did really good regionally.

Your 14 has much improved sub-frame bushings than the early years of release. Going to an outboard mount rear sway bar is the single biggest improvement you can make followed by wheels and tires. 1LE struts would be a big plus with upgrade wheels and tires. There are small gains available with 1LE/ZL11/Z/28 toe links. Rear upper outer control arm Z/28 bushings are the best solution available.

Depending on the class and budget we can design an optimal solution for you right here.

For my very first try at it I was pleased with my Friday morning results

CamaroCross
Summary Results, #1 - FRIDAY AM SESSION 2015 - Fri 08-07-2015

7 029 JANICE MOORE CHEVY CAMARO V6 55.970 +8.762 +10.295

I'm Wayne, so I think I can get around the cones O.K. I just didn't like how much roll the rear end of my car had. I went back and looked at my video that the wife recorded (rwi2112 on you tube) and was mostly interested in keeping the rear of the car planted.

Well done Wayne

JPSS Sway Bars - We make the only outboard mount rear sway bar that fits V6 brakes and our 32/27mm bar split has been the standard since 2009.

JPSS Black Magic Billet Radius Bushing Inserts - control dynamic caster change. The Z/28 comes with a similar insert, but the JPSS inserts is larger and more robust

OEM 1LE/ZL1/Z/28 Toe Links

These parts with a tight spec JPSS alignment will transform your V6.

Pete is that sway bar / bushings set up something I could install myself ? I'm an Industrial Maintenance Electrician so I've turned a few wrenches in my day. I had a 79 K5 Blazer that I installed a 10" lift kit on by myself and I got a nice pole barn. Would I just go to your web site to order the stuff or would I have to go through a middle man ?

Thanks, Wayne

Wayne,

They are in stock and we can ship today. I would post the link to my site, but the forum rules won't allow that. Go to www.JPSSonline.com and click on SHOP. Click on the image with two bars to order.

Yes you can do the install yourself. When you are ready to install them, give me a call. This is my mobile. 616-834-8100

We have to update our kits. 2010 - 2012 V6 need lower control arms and drop links. The 2013 - 2015 V6 needs only the drop links in addition to the bars. We'll fix that a.s.a.p.

I went with the Brembo brake setup from an SS on front, CTS-V rear (same thing, really) and 1/LE complete kit from GM. 275's all around. OEM strut tower bar.
Worst part is there is no place to practice to learn the feel of the car. I need a friend with a big parking lot.

Why the strut tower bar?
