San Diego - Who maintains your ZL1?
I'm trying to avoid going to the stealership for any maintenance to avoid stupid mistakes. I have access to military auto hobby shops etc but need someone to do tire work and maybe an oil change on occasion.
Who do you all trust? |

I've been going to Lutz Tire on Market Street for years. I had an STI for 11 years and they did a lot (I'm no mechanic, I can change tires, but that's about it.) On my Camaro, I had them do alignment, tire swap, oil change (including rear diff). Basically anything that is not warranty work, I go to Lutz. They might be a tick on the pricy side, but I have had no issues with them.

For tire/brake work, I use Courtney Tire in Chula Vista. So far they have only done tire services for my SS and my wife’s BMW but they do good work at very reasonable prices. I’m going to have them change my brake pads next week. As far as oil/fluid changes, I’m in the market for a solid GM mechanic as well.

I would normally never go to the dealership for anything, but as part of the negotiation (2018 ZL1 M6) Quality Chevrolet gave me free oil changes for life. Normally I do my own oil changes, but can’t beat the price and illeviates my paranoia about jacking the car up in a wrong spot.
For everything else, I have a great mechanic in Escondido that I plan to use - Sam at SamTech Auto. |
