Ported Blower

Well winter time is here in Colorado. First snow fall expected tomorrow
That means it is time to get to work on my build..
First off when tearing into the block I am looking to get the blower and snout ported.
So for those guys out there who had it done
1. Who did the port job?
2. Would you trust a core exchange(couple shops have ported blowers ready to be shipped on an exchange basis)
3. Gains to be seen? Boost gain/loss?

Thanks in advance!

if you're flowing more air for the same rotor speed, there'll be a drop in boost. that's a good thing because there's less restriction -> less heat -> lower IATs -> less power lost.
it's all about making the system more efficient, and RSD was making spacers a few years ago (between the halves of the manifold) that also reduced IATs by allowing better flow through the IC.

Jeremy Formato of Fasterproms did all the port work on my car and I was very pleased and thought it was very much worth doing it. I told him I don't mind waiting a little longer, but I want the blower that came off my car to be ported, not a core exchange. I went with him because he has a pretty big following with the CTS-V crowd and he knows how to make power. My build is in my signature.

Other than porting the Snout, I don't understand what the value of porting the blower would be based on my car's power level with a stock unported blower. I'd spend that money on the heads and a fuel system.

Jeremy formato. My car has a street tune no dyno numbers. I had him do the swap in house and i was in-out of his shop in 2 hours. He had 4-5 ported blowers on the shelf that I looked at and I was amazed at how much metal he removes.

You might be leaving some power on the table, regardless your car is a great build. Would you be able to PM me some info on your heads?? AMP hasn't emailed me back regarding them. As for the bower porting is just to move air flow better.. Basically everything zebra said up there^^^ usual gains are 20-30whp
I got quoted from a local speed shop for $700 blower port no snout. So not close to the price of heads or a fuel system

1) I'm not leaving ANY power on the table, that is a fact.
2) No
3) I said "I'd spend that money on the heads and a fuel system.", I didn't say a 3K fuel system or 4k heads were cheaper than paying some dude to grind out the casting of a blower.

1) Its been proven that porting the blower results in some power gained, so obviously you are leaving power on the table by not porting the blower.. doesn't matter if it is 1hp or 30.
2) No Biggie.. I'll find the information elsewhere, I was being too lazy to search for it
3) I did not ask you what you would do, I only started this thread for information regarding ported blowers and snouts from members who have this done on their cars. Since you don't have either, no need to comment in this particular thread.

Ported Blower

It has been proven to you, that is clear. You've got it all figured out ZL1-Kid.

I meant to write "no problem" but I guess "no" works now.

Much like many car forums, this one is full of guys with opinions. I think porting a blower casing is a waste of money based on my direct experiences and the results of my build. As I've said before, the gains are there for the blower snout. If you are of the opinion that it is...based on what you've read, you are entitled to that opinion.

Well from the start of your 2nd post you came across as a real As***le, thus prompting me to reply in the manner I did
but regardless Your car is impressive without a doubt. 800+ without nitrous is damn impressive, not taking that away so kuddos to you sir. Thanks for stopping in to voice your "opinion" Sakudog
