LED tail light bulb, HELP !!!

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a set of 3157 LED tail light for my 2LT/RS 2013 and they look nice. The problem I have now is that they will come on just fine, but when I put the turn signals after a few seconds I get a DIC warning stating to check my turn signal bulbs, and they begin to blink faster. Now, I have check them for connection and to see if they are out, but they are working properly, the only thing is the DIC warning and the faster than normal blinking. Am I missing anything? I appreciate any help from Camaro5 experts.

Thank you again.

I attached few pics of the LEDs for everyone to see.

My grand am did that too. They use much less power than the normal bulbs and the car thinks they are not working. That is why they blink fast. You need some sort of resistor or something like that in line with the bulb to use some more power to use the LEDs. I may be using the wrong terms but that's the gist.

Yup you need a load resistor to take care of that hyper-flashing, pretty sure this will do the trick, maybe someone can verify this:

You need a Resistor, 6 - 8 ohms, from the Pos lead to Gnd (Grn or Ylw wire, depending wether it's the left lamp or right lamp). Resistors should be attached to chassis (as they will get hot) and be at least 35 watts.

Thanks for the rapid response, also do you think leaving the LEDs in for now will damage something, until I get these (resisters) ordered?

Thanks again

It shouldn't damage anything. I left mine on for tens of thousands of miles.

You're fine going as you are now without the resistors. Only thing is you'll always have hyper-flashing until you install the resistors to eliminate it and normalize the flash rate.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but which ohm resistor do I need for license plate LED's to stop them from blinking/flashing?

You don't need a resistor for the plate led's. If they are flashing/blinking, just make sure you have them fully seated in the plug.

I did, they're definitely fully seated and they still flash. Under the description of the resistors on the gen5diy site it says the resistors are for the license plate lights as well.

My bad. It might be different for the newer models. I have a 2010 and I was able to just swap in some t10's with no problem.

Where did you purchase yours from? I know the Phillips type come with a resistor installed but they're about $10-each.

How much brighter are the LED tail light bulbs than the standard ones in a 2013 LS?
