The ATS is only $2200 difference.

Where are you seeing twin turbo'd gen 5's with 12.7+ times? A full stock v6 camaro with a twin turbo runs low 12's. With 6th gen it will probably be in the high 11's.

I'm not knocking the 4, just hard to believe what powertrains have done in the last 10 years. I remember seeing little European cars 10-15 years ago thinking we would never drive that stuff in the states, and here we are buying and tuning those once thought to be ugly box cars with go-cart wheels! Yes, the world is changing. Guess we should just embrace the variety.

I have a Cruze and I have never heard this fuel claim you make, yes it is the Turbo Cruze.

Why would you not trust the Cadillac engineers GM owns Chevrolet and Cadillac. The engines are used in both brands vehicles. Plus Cadillac and Chevrolet don't build the engines, they are built by or bought for GM to be used in multiple platforms.

There is a service advisory bulletin regarding using premium fuel in hot weather conditions. I will look for the reference and if I find it will post it for you. The 1.4T is assembled in Flint, MI at the GM engine plant.

I said *MOST* of the turbo/sc cars... With the exception of a VERY small handful (3, and the fastest one has poured tons of money into the car), the majority that post their times are high 12's low 13's. See for yourself...

You're absolutely right though, a 6th gen v6 (which you have to may more for, appx $2200 according to what you said about the ATS), with a turbo or super charger will will PROBABLY be faster than a pumped up 2.0T... But you're going to spend 8 to 9k (including paying the additional premium, plug a sc/turbo kit)... A "respectable" 2.0t will spend appx 3k, and have a high 12 second car... That's cool.

It's all a money game... Most people won't bother to put a supercharger or turbo kit on their v6, only a handful... You can go back and forth until the end of time trying to make the 4cyl faster than the 6cyl, while the 6 cyl guy tries to make his car faster than the 8cyl...

I'm saying, I would personally be pretty happy spending 3k on the 4 cyl to run mid to high 12s, rather than 8-9k on a v6. This would be MY personal preference over the v6.

That and it literally took a page from mustang and got more euro looking in a few areas.
I would personally rather them do away with the V6 and keep a TT 4 cylinder as the base option. The V6 serves no purpose now - none of the power of the V8 with none of the fuel economy of the I4. A simple tune and the I4 will smoke the V6. It also has much more potential as the V6 is pretty much maxed out from the factory and the I4 has only just begun with a simple tune. The V6 should be the base model, just like on the Mustang.

I'm still unsure what I'll be doing. If I can't justify the extra gas and insurance of the v8, I'll probably go T4. Either route, I wouldn't be modding until the car is paid off. By that time, my warranty will be nearly gone anyway. On top of that, all the turbo R&D will be done too. Tune, intake and exhaust will have me at v6 power or higher for less money.

+1

I'll probably test drive a 2.0t, as well as a v8 as soon as they hit the dealer.

There will always be haters, but I have a feeling this one will be a winner.
