NEED HELP from anyone who has removed a diff, GEARS!

If anyone has a stock diff sitting on a shelf, regardless of model, can you crack the case and look at the ring gear?

I am working on a project to get a racing LSD built for the 2016+ Camaro SS.

The snag - the ring gear is WELDED to the factory diff. This is the stock SS 3.73. This is why nobody makes gears for our cars yet, I'm trying to change this.

What I need to know - are they ANY Camaro variants that do NOT use a welded ring gear? I'm also trying to convince Motive Gear to make R&P sets for the car, but there is no viable market unless they can be bolted to something.

The e-Diff units are made by a different supplier for GM, there is a very good chance that they are bolted. I'd like to confirm this.

What about the automatics? Need to know about those too.

I'll summarize all the responses I get and post them here.

there are pics of the ediff and it is bolted. I don't think there is a huge issue if it is welded, most people are going to change the diff to a torsen / trutrac anyway. The question is will the 5th gen trutrac fit in the case?

They can't just change the diff (utilizing the stock case) because nobody makes a diff to go in it. I have a company who wants to make a diff, but there needs to be a cost-effective solution for a R&P that'll bolt to it. We have a catch-22.

The BMW guys have done this- http://autotech.com/bmw-install-kit-...ears-215k.html

My bet is on 'no'. The Alpha platform used a brand new (to GM) supplier for the differential assembly, so the ATS and non-eLSD Gen6 doesn't match anything else GM makes. I'm quite sure the SS diff is made by Linamar and the eLSD is made by American Axle.
