I'd love to see it too and rework the Cam/Tune for a possible run at the Salt Flats.

This was back in 2010

Pretty soon we'll need one of these to drive a manual.

I like the M6 better on the ZL1.
Not sure how much experience you have on a C7 but I've had my C7 Z06 for over 2 1/2 yrs. I had a C6 M6 and while the C7 m7 is different, it hasn't been an issue. I've gotten over 28mph on trips. You can't miss going into it and unless your going well over 100 and miss a downshift it's not an issue.

I don't GAF about fuel mileage so 7th gear for me would be about as useful as the charging tray. Hell, I rarely use 6th.

No kidding.

Government driven design changes for the purpose of fuel economy are starting to get out of hand. I appreciate what GM is doing to avoid "features" like auto stop/start in performance vehicles, but I think we're starting to bump up against engineering limits.

I'd be willing to bet features such as skip-shift and 7-Speed manual transmissions likely have no significant fuel savings anywhere other than in the government fuel economy tests. Using skip-shift as an example, I know when I see the skip-shift message I'll purposely accelerate to avoid having to shift from first to forth... so now I use more gas than I otherwise would have. I'm sure other people are doing the same.

Also, technology like Delphi’s Dynamic Skip Fire is almost certainly a step backwards in reliability/longevity. There is no way that rocker design will be as reliable as a solid rocker.

Maybe it's time to tweak the regulation a little bit.

But manufacturers do or fines must be paid.

If the M7 fit, and made sense to use, they would have done so from the beginning, so there wouldn't be any additional costs. They said it doesn't fit, so why would they lie?

To throw people off the scent, so to speak?

Maybe it was more of a misdirection than an outright "lie" . . . I suppose there could be reasons like it could physically fit but not fit without impacting crash performance and it wasn't felt that we needed to be party the whole story.

I got a very brief opportunity to drive a Z51 fitted with the 7-speed out on the track a couple of years back. Seemed easy enough to get whatever gear you wanted as far up as 5th, anyway. No reason a Camaro fitment should be any different.

Wow - this went from a general curiosity to now seeming like it was something customers were owed.
