Mods/expectations for 2018 (I did this 2017)

Well 2018 is coming up and I asked this last year and I wanted to see who may have met or exceeded their goal. I went back and looked at my goals although I did change the mods I planned I did exceed my goals as I had planned. My very first pass with my Magnuson 2300 was 10.82@129.88 which I was very happy with, that same day I went quicker at 10.82 and was stuck there for some time with 93 octane tune. I did retune and change pulleys and finally lowered my times to 10.70 but was stuck at that 129 mph area and just couldn't break it. Finally made some tuning changes and went to the street car takeover in Topeka and went another 10.70@133 which was my best mph on Vp MS109 with Meth/water injection. I never really had any cool conditions after my spring time runs, not even at the end of the year. Finally made the change to the Lingenfelter Big Bore pump and was able to go from a 90mm pulley to an 80mm and retuned and my car went 10.37@133 at the LS Fest but have since lowered that to 10.33@135.
My goal is 9.80's@140 plus and want to do that on the stock long block, maybe headers since I have a set of Hooker short tubes, I'm installing the LT4 injectors so I can run a 70mm pulley for about 16 lbs of boost, will still run the water injection and race fuel plus to keep the intake temps down I'll do a ice chiller box in the trunk. I have my chromoly RPM roll bar going in so I'm safe and I've built a new smaller version of a prostock style aluminum spoiler (in sig). Its pretty cool looking. My car actually ran faster with no wing on the rear and handled better in cross winds. There it is for me so lets see your goals for 2018 also.

Goals

2017 Goal
Went to a free event at Super Summit at Norwalk OH on June 10th. The DA was terrible, and so were many of my ET's, but got hooked on the adrenaline rush anyway. This was the first time drag racing since the late 70's with my 1970 1/2 Z/28. I went back to Norwalk in September with better DA and better results. At that point, my goal was to make it into the top 30 here on the forum for bone stock A8's, and at that time would have been about 12.34. I made a few more trips to Norwalk for the Friday night TNT's, usually getting in 2 to 3 runs. My PB was 12.397 - so close to the goal. Norwalk is about an 1 hour and 15 minutes away. Milan MI is about 40 minutes away, but the word was the track prep was not usually very good. With the season over at Norwalk, I decided to to give Milan a try. My first run was a 12.317, so my goal was accomplished. There weren't many people there initially, so you could basically just circle around and run again. My next few runs were 12.164, 12.153, 12.163. Since I was getting so many runs in I decided to do some experimentation. On my 5th run, I launched off idle rather than using launch control. This ended up being my best run of the day at 12.118@ 114.16 mph. I tried to duplicate that launch method a couple more times, but could not hook at all, so I think the track grip had started to go south. I got in about 17 to 18 runs that day and 9 were better than my previous PB, so it was really good practice for RT's and such a blast, and I was elated over the ET and feel like this is probably about the absolute best the car and I can do.
2018 Goal
In 2018, I have a goal to make it into the high 11's with some minor mods that, by appearance that won't void the warranty. I have a PRAY port IM and TB ready to go. I will probably add a Rotofab CAI at CFest8. I may also add in some Hooker BlackHeart shorties, so Laynlo15, if your moving to LT's I may be interested. I will probably stick with the OEM F1 street tires, at least for now.

Bill

First Merry Christmas everyone and a quicker New year

2017 goal was a 11.99 or better without getting into the computer I just dont have the patience and or skill to keep trying on stock tires so 12.23 was my best pass stock and with the help of a Pray ported TB, Rotofab ,and Dragpack 11.88 was it for the year. Im not thrilled with it but then again I can remember 25 or 30 years ago drooling for a 12 second car you could drive everyday so go figure lol. Anyways I need to catch up with you fast guys so 2018 goal is a 10 second car without touching the heads or cam. The question is how? ,do I go right to FI or do I go the bolt on route where I can do the Johnny Cash one piece at a time as money allows or will tax time help me out this year and I can do something all at once...stay tuned....also all of you guys have been great at giving advice and help with all my questions Its been cool meeting some of you in person and getting to know ya hope to meet more of ya and hopefully we all have a faster 2018

laynlo15 are you putting the RPM rollbar in yourself? Is this the bolt-in?

I am installing it next weekend with a little help, its to much to handle for one person. I have most of the interior and trunk stuff out. I'm planning a full detail installation for those who want to take the challenge. I might even video some of it, but not all or I wouldn't get anything done. Its gonna take a full day I'm sure, I'd already have the whole thing out if I had my plastic tool to take all the clips out. Don't want to damage them anymore then I have too. I took all the panels off the bottom of the car so I could bolt the plates on for the roll bar. Should be interesting for sure.

That would be fantastic Sir... This is most likely a "must do" on my Mods/expectations for 2018.

What are you doing for 2018 as far as your mods? Sorry, yes it is a bolt in. Can't wait to get it in and then start on the other stuff I need to get done in the next few months.

As a track newbie, I wanted to see 11.99 in 2017 with DRs and everything else stock. Didn't quite get there, 12.17 best time with DA of around 2,000.

In 2018 planning on adding a Maggie and a tune, with the goal of getting to 10.99.

I like the faster New Year, Dapper Dan!! I want to start off with a second to that idea and hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

My 2017 goal was simple, but not easy to accomplish. I wanted to get a 10 out of a completely stock car, tire and all. I would've gladly accepted a 10.999, so I was really excited to pull off the 10.943.

For 2018, I have a simple mod list. I simply want to add drag radials to the rear and try to run a 10.7. That may prove to be a very lofty goal given everyone's thoughts on torque management and the fact that I've only seen one DR 60' time better than my stock best of 1.70, and it was a high 1.68. I'll likely need a low 1.6 and good air to make it happen. I'll find out if the stock tune will allow a 60' that low.

Now my goal may change if GM releases their drag package for the ZL1 and it's affordable. If that happens, my goal will be to run a 9.

In 2017, i hit more HP than I've ever owned in any car ever.

In 2018, I'd like to stop being a cautious scared bitch and hit the 1/4 mile without having nightmares about the car blowing up Loll

Get it to the track, but get some slicks or drag radial for the power. Good luck
