I like the fact that you are considering a full roll bar for mounting harnesses, definitely not a fan of harness bars. With that said, I'm not sold on the idea of a bolt in bar on a street/track car. If you really want one for safety, get a custom weld in. But realize what you are doing, as a bar that will truly add safety will also be adding a lot of weight, be permanent and ultimately take away resale value. In addition, a fixed back race seat is a must when you run a 6 point harness and a roll bar. Others will argue against this idea, but if you are getting a roll bar for safety reasons, then you really need to do it right to take full advantage of it. A bolt in roll bar, with stock seats and a crappy 4 point harness is arguably more dangerous than a stock car.

I totally agree that a permanent roll bar is better, but i dont plan to keep the car long term and yes i plan to install real race seats that with 6pt harnesses tgat should offset the weight added from the bar.
Im hoping to find someone who has already installed this bolt in bar.

That one you posted is more of a drag bar, I would never put that in a road course car.

Apart from a different regulation, which may not be legal in a desired class or rulebook (probably not a problem for HPDE), they seem to generally have funky removable door bars and not as much diagonal support. The above bar also appears to simply bolt to the floorboard, even with a backing plate, in a roll over these can tear through the thin gauge floor material quite easily. I guess the point I am trying to make, is that if you are going to go through the hassle of mounting a roll bar in your car, you might as well do it right with a proper bar.

That door bar and pin does seem odd to me thats why I'm hoping to find someone who has already installed one

A bolt in cage can be very strong in a crash, SCCA accepts a proper bolt in. The drag cage is low dollar practical but the drawback is no front windshield protection. (You spin and someone launches over the front of your car) I would go just a four point bolt in for rollover and belts or a six point full road course cage. These cages will mess up interior trim most of the time, trust me, so resale will be problematic if you don't sell to a track minded person.

BTW, we are driving 100 MPH with 20 gallons of gas NOT in a fuel cell. A $600 fire suit would make sense on a dollar to safety ratio.

Another BTW, I can't fit my head with a full helmet through the window. If you can't open the door ...

+1 what Sean has said. If you wish to forego air bags then get a proper roll bar. I've seen a Mustang pan cake with a bolt on. Safety is good obviously, but only if done right. Lest it just adds weight and a false sense of security. Lastly, if you wish to DD the car, then think what will happen to your helmet-less noggin should somebody rear end you...
