Any Plans For an LT5 Powered Camaro?
I know this may be a long shot, but are there any plans in the works for an LT5 powered Camaro? Whether it be an updated ZL1, Z28 or something?

He's not allowed to talk about future product plans.

They'll politely reject the question with a "We can not discuss future product." Would be very interesting, though - huh? |

Historically a Z/28 has a NA Powerplant. The LT5 is FA.

You'll never get an answer on this until they do it; but if they're looking to stay competitive, they'll put the LT5 in the ZL1 for the 2019 refresh. In theory, it'd be easier in the Camaro to keep the taller engine under the hood.

The LT5 is what the LT4 should have been all along. Why GM stuck that puny little 1.7L supercharger on it and let the Mopar boys have their glory with their "707 hp", I'll never know.
Since the LT5 is going in the new ZR1 Corvette, putting it in the ZL1 too would be a bad marketing decision. It would siphon sales from the Corvette like the current ZL1 does (to some extent) from the base Vette. Last edited by gringo; 12-01-2017 at 03:51 AM. |

I know we will likely not get an answer to this until it happens, and many believe it will never happen, but I'd like to think it will at some point. The ZL1 needs that kind of power to stay in front of the stock Hellcat and the rumored GT500.

Historically the Corvette had pop up headlights and for a few years now they don’t. History and Us the consumers will be fine with the LT5.

The original Z/28 was not built to compete in the same sort of "run what you brung and hope you brung enough" arena that you might have found on Woodward Ave or out on some straight stretch of country highway where the focus was strictly on "big power" and somehow getting the rear tires to cope with it.
