If I could do all over again I think I would start with a base SS and get the ZL1 1LE suspension and track-worthy diff and change it into a track car (assuming SS already has all the cooling that the 1LE package has). I've seen the base SS cars listed as low as $29-30k when I was searching for my 1LE, with the amount of savings (about $10-12k in most cases) one can get the suspension, race seat, harness/roll bar, custom wheels..etc and also shave a few hundreds lbs during the process I cannot think of any better track car (that is new and have factory track warranty) at that price point (total of $40-42k with mods)

I am not a big fan of BMR offerings due to additional weight and fitment/clerance issues that my friend had with their sway bars on his Gen 5 1LE and would definitely prefer OEM.

If it has to be aftermarket, I would wait for the AFE/Pfadt offerings (cannot see anything offered for the latest gen just yet). Comparing AFE and BMR control arms, it's very easy to see that Afe/Pfadt spent more time on R&D for coming up with lightweight parts

I couldn't agree anymore with you. I am waiting see if GM comes out with a Plane Jane SS next year. Buy it gut interior do full road race cage seats suspension etc...

edit: he also had issues with the BMR motor mounts (that's whole different story) and had to replace them with OEM again.
I actually did weigh mine when I swapped them out. I used a food scale.
