Plenty of buyers remorse there. The current 1LE is better equipped and a better choice as a car car.

The ZL1 is a better choice for most people. Does that Z/28 have AC? They took weight savings to an extreme so even the radio reminds you of a taxi cab. And the old school electronics. And check out the price of new brakes and tires.

The current 1LE is much more well equipped and just about as fast on any track, although the Z/28 would win a drag race.

Now if they would have dropped the LS7 into a 5th gen 1LE I would own one and not have a CA6 SS.

Take the 40-50k, give it to a stock broker to invest it for you. I bet you have way more money in the 30 years than the possibly value increase over the years. I understand your not seriously going to do it. I'm just sayin

That's a well known and understood fact but misses the point of the hobby and the enjoyment of ownership to some.

If it is only driven on the street Al O stated that the rotors are good for around 90,000 miles. By the looks of my pads with 5 track days and 7,000 miles overall I'd say the pads are good for 50,000 miles on the street or more.
At the right dealer rotors can be had for around $1400, think the pads are around $450.

What weak points or issues are there to actually driving these beasts on the street. Assume that I ok with the Spartan nature of the car.

I agree with the poster that says the 1LE is a better option. The track times are similar, and it has the updated interior. And is a few grand cheaper. That Z28 is just plain sick though, with those breaks, tires, etc. Its built the way a camaro used to be in the 60's - RAW and MEAN.

I couldn't believe the mileage! A typical garage queen, but it was in perfect condition. I had a few moments of mental wrestling in my head on trading my 2SS in on this, but I walked away.....
I just checked Waze, I can be in Pasco in 3hrs 48min. Prob even quicker in my 2SS. :P

I 2nd this. I've seen brand new untitled cars for $50K even and used cars in the $42K-$45K range. My guess is an offer of $45K would buy it.

The Dealer wants about $46k for this Z/28 that I pass by everyday to work. I doubt they'll even get that out of it.

For the street you probably want to go with some street tires as the Trofeos tram line considerably, make a fair amount of road noise and don't do well in heavier rains. Many don't like the rear view, but I don't have an issue with it. Pulling into a parking spot requires knowledge of just how far the front lip sticks out. The car is very stiff so you may well lose contact with one wheel on occasion entering or leaving driveways and such... No big deal really.
Besides that I have had no issues with street driving unless you consider all the attention the car brings with it as a negative.
The positives far outweigh the negatives from my perspective!
Hope you are considering buying one as you will not regret it unless you really don't want visceral moments.

The engine alone is worth $30k. I would love to have the LS7 in a gen6.
