Why not just copying a dual clutch PDK transmission ?
Yes the 10 speed is still an automatic that cannot accurately mimic a manual with a person involved. Besides the delay in response, 10 speeds may be too many except in the hands of a professional driver. And the A10 may still be faster on a track with long straights than a manual. But is that what we want with the car driving instead of us?

What we have here is the diminshing need of the driver. With current technology a car could be built where we just sit there an hold on. And it could be faster than any human could possiby drive and be very safe. At that point the car is just an amusement ride.

Just like computer programs that are starting to out think us, automated cars are able to out drive us.

See where this is going? What happens when the machines do not need us any more? I seem to remember a popular movie series on this very topic.

Long live the manual! Long live the need for us! Nannies off.

I heard a rumor Chevy is partnering with a new start up company to build the Z/28.

I think the name was Cyberdyne or something like that

NOT EXACTLY

Next up was the ZL1 with a manual. That stick-shift ran a blistering quick 1:26.16

Next up was the ZL1 with the automatic transmission. Randy only managed a time of 1:26.48

Randy strongly felt there were some tenths left in the automatic ZL1. He worked with a couple of engineers from Chevy and kept adjusting tire pressures and lapping. The result? An unofficial lap time of 1:25.87

LESS THAN HALF A SECOND, TO BE PRECISE 0.29 SECONDS

I really hate using you and Mlee as "Ginea Pigs" but I know you both will track your ZL1/A10 cars hard. If there is going to be an overheating problem, you two and others will find them and accurately report them to all of us. I'm still a few years out from trading in my Z and really look forward to both yours and others write ups. I really hope this car is all it is made out to be.

Me, too!!

Definitely look to Mlee for a writeup and thoughts regarding the A10 and it's track prowess.

I will likely be delivering a review of a slightly different variety...

DCT's have poor low speed performance in traffic. They don't launch well except in an all out launch. I had a 135i with a DCT. It's better than the old 6 speed auto BMW had, but worse than the ZF A8 most of the time. The GM A8 drives a whole lot like the ZF unit, and likely shares some technology.

Congratulations, but I guess I will NOT be able to drive your car at Camaro Fest after all. I'm sure that was not an easy decision for you to make. But... we still look forward to seeing you again in a few months.

Ahhh but Mr Wyndham, have you considered the terrifying possibility that by the time your ZL1 1LE is close to a production and delivery date... the fabled Z28 will finally be announced?!

That being said, I TRULY WISH I had your dilemnas!!!!

You're still welcome to, if you want to brave the stick shift!

I don't think there's any danger of that...And yes, I am very fortunate. Can't freaking wait....even closing in on a color choice!!

My car is a manual as well, do you think it will be made and delivered in time for the Fest?

Would you really pick a color other than Silver?
