Strange as yet - A non solved problem.
Howdy,
My friend and I both have 2017 2.0 Camaro's. We live in southern Alberta with an elevation of about 3600 feet. We bought our cars to use year round as daily users, we both park outside and mine is unplugged (no block heater) but my friend plugs in and uses his block heater. So they get cold....... We have now both experienced the same problem............... Using the remote start the car starts ok but runs for about 4 minutes only - outside temp is -15C to -25C. Then pressing the start button the car turns over but doesn't start.............wait and try again - it starts and the engine light comes on!! At the dealership they suspect gas got into the oil somehow and that's where they are at........more tests today............any sensible ideas? Anybody else had this problem? Thanks Tankman. |

Is it setting an actual engine code or is the light just coming on?

Get GM involved. Ask the dealer to contact your service engineer. Any mods on the car?

The code is p0172.
Seems in the cold it's running rich. Gas has seeped into the oil somewhere! Possibly by the injectors or a seal! Changed the oil and tested it - seems ok. Monitor situation and return to dealership if it does it again! Strange eh?? |

Outcome was I had to manually turn my car on and it resolved itself after I did that.

The wife said it ran great all weekend. The dealership want it back today to check things over! It was considerably warmer the last few days so I'm not sure if they'll find anything!!
I'll keep you informed. |
