8th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise (Father's Day Cruise) - June 17th, 2017
The 8th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise (Father's Day Cruise) will be held on June 17, 2017!
What is it? This is the 8th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise (Father's Day Cruise) leaving from Edmonton and Calgary, driving to Red Deer, and on to Rocky Mountain House, with a few stops for pictures along the way! This event has grown each and every year with around 70 camaros arriving at Edwards Garage in Rocky Mountain House for lunch last year! Please find that event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1690187534555229/ As some of you may know, each year this cruise alternates between Banff and Jasper as the destination, with 2017 being a Jasper year. This year we have changed it to Rocky Mountain House for several reasons: • Hotel availability in Jasper is basically none, especially for a group our size • Hotel costs in Jasper are very high due to our dollar and American tourists • Canada is giving free national park admission in 2017, so Jasper and Banff will be extremely busy Those that want to continue on to Jasper (or Hinton) anyway, are more than welcome to. Please make your own arrangements. Some may want to check out the Columbia Icefields and/or Glacier Skywalk. Remember with the free park admission this year, these activities may be extremely busy! Edmonton and area Camaros will be meeting at Save On Foods near 34th Avenue and Calgary Trail between 7:30AM and 8:00AM, leaving Edmonton at 8:15AM. Save On Foods Calgary and area Camaros will be meeting at the Shell & Tim Hortons east of CrossIron Mills mall between 7:30AM and 8:00AM, leaving Calgary at 8:15AM. Shell & Tim Hortons All Camaros will be meeting in Red Deer at the Costco/Staples parking lot between 9:30AM and 10:30AM. We will be leaving Red Deer at 10:30AM and driving to Rocky Mountain House, which is about an hour away. Staples, Red Deer Rocky Mountain House stop and lunch The Chevrolet dealership in Rocky Mountain House, Edwards Garage, www.edwardsgarage.com, will once again be hosting a lunch for our group! Just like last year, the dealership has elected to work with the local Boys and Girls club to cook! Lunch will cost you a (minimum) $5 donation per person to the Rocky Mountain House Boys and Girls club. A great cause and worthy of our support based on all that Edwards Garage has done for us over the past few years! Edwards Garage Ltd DINNER and DRINKS Olde Smokey’s BBQ Shack 4831 50st, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta T4T 1B4 https://goo.gl/maps/3DWQ9qRVFr22 Saturday, June 17, 2017 – 6:30pm Travis and Barb Chahley, and their business Rocky Feed Solutions, are sponsoring the 8th Annual Alberta Camaro Cruise group dinner at the Olde Smokey's BBQ Shack in Rocky Mountain House! This is a new restaurant opening soon offering authentic smoked meats and home cooked food. The atmosphere is great and so is the food and beer! Additionally, they will be accepting donations for the Medical Equipment Lending Society in Rocky Mountain House! 100% of the donations go to the charity! Rocky Feed Solutions will be sponsoring the first 50 people, and every additional plate after will only be $13.00! The meal will be smoked beef roast and smoked pulled pork, with potato salad, homemade beans, and coleslaw. Drinks would be a cash bar, with Guinness on tap and 5 other beers, along with a full bar. The restaurant can hold approximately 100 people, so there should be plenty of room for us! There is a possibility of putting a few tables outside if the numbers exceed capacity. After dinner, a pub style menu will be available. There may be some live entertainment as well, details to follow! Rooms are all non-smoking, and there is a minimum block of 20 available.
