93 OCTANE !!!

What are some peoples experience with running octane less than the required 93 for the ZL1's. I live in California and 93 is hard to come by out here. Is it going to be cans of octane boost added? CHIME IN PLEASE...TY

The ECM will automatically adjust timing based on the octane. As others have said, your car will run fine. It just won’t make as much power on 91 octane gas as it would with 93..

I had to put lower than 93 octane in my Hellcat once. I was very low on gas and Wawa was the only station nearby. They don't have 93 octane. So I put it in and honestly it ran fine. In my head at the time I would have sworn it lost 500 hp. And if it ever happens again I will probably swear it will lose 500 hp. But it was all in my head. If 93 is available, then go for it. If not then you'll be fine with 91 or 92.

Hey, L DUB: I’m over in Santa Cruz and run 91 on my’18. Runs just fine. There are at least a couple of stations in San Jose selling 100 unleaded if you feel the need. Noteworthy is the the fact that the GM advertised 650 HP/650TQ is only with 93. Guessing 91 reduces output only slightly, maybe 630-640 range.

I plan to fill my tank 1/2 way with 100 soon to produce about an overall 95or so to see if it produces an real seat of the pants difference, but I doubt let.

Let me know and I can meet you at the station I plan to fill up at.

Cheers!

With math like that, then I am getting 95 Octane so I can get another 500hp!!

In my head, of course.

Couple of carefully placed stickers on the back of your car will make up for the hp loss between 93 and 91 octane....
