When I was into the Honda scene, Acura Integra GSRs and Type Rs are frequently targeted by thieves because their engines can be easily dropped into Honda Civics thus creating a lot of demand. I have a GSR that was almost stolen.
From what I read in Camaro5, swapping a V8 in a V6 Camaro is not practical. I wonder what is the market for the stripped parts, particularly the engine?

We'll see what happens...
Have the PD who took your report contact OnStar and give them your VIN. They can trace it if they want to regardless of whether you are subscribed or not, but it usually takes law enforcement intervention to get them to do it.

OnStar are assholes unless you're paying them.

I did end up calling OnStar and they took my info and were going to reach out to the PD. I was surprised they were so helpful considering I'm not a paying customer.

Well I hope they follow through. I'm surprised too.

I feel really sorry for you, I hope your insurance takes care of it. Until recently I had the same setup. I felt that wasn't enough at all, so I went ahead and got a tire claw, steering wheel-to-pedal lock, and the Ravelco Killswitch.

I live in a gated community as well, but I don't feel that deters the crooks.

Replacements in other Camaros or other GM vehicles that use the same engine. They're also used in older muscle cars and hot rods.

It's very likely that you were targeted by a professional crime group. Many of these cars are heading out of the country in shipping containers.

Damn man, the bay is rough. I'm from the Bay Area originally and I'm damn glad I don't live out there any more. Sorry for what's happened and I hope they recover your vehicle. Good luck, bud.

Sorry to hear about your ride bro and feel for you. We have had this happen to a few of our members and it usual ends the same. Stripped and dumped in Oakland somewere. The best thing to do for our cars is to get a really good alarm with separate gps system with a back up battery. The next thing is to get the Revelco system installed. I keep mine in the garage but when out with the club at dinner or something i get worried. We have a good lead on some of this with the task force guys from CHP around Oakland but they still don't know exactly how they are being taken. Will post up on our member facebook page and keep our eyes open.
