Do heated seat modules need "programming"?

Have a camaro where the heated seats didn't work. After some looking I decided to replace the module with one from ebay.

It worked, but I also found there are 3 settings on it, not 2 like on the camaro. (click once, 2 lights, click again, 1 light, click again, no lights, but still on, click again no lights and off) I double checked the part number and was using one that superseded the one that was in my car originally.

So, I decided to try one with the same part number, but from an equinox.

Same thing, 3 settings instead of 2. I looked and the equinox does have 3 settings.

So, do they have to be programmed for the car?

The seats do warm up, and I'm wondering if because the module is from an equinox (yet same part number) if I may have problems if I don't get them programmed.

Think it could have any problems if I don't?

Thanks!

I put in a 2014 mylink that had heated seat buttons but only had a cloth interior. Years later I installed oem zl1 seats ( non recaro )

The seats heated without programming. Only 2 lights.

1 is seat
2 is seat and lower back.

Maybe I should ask the question another way.

Does a heated seat module, when coming from a different car (in this case an Equinox with 3 settings), need to be programmed for a car, like the Camaro, with 2 settings?

If so, and I choose not to, could it do any harm?

If so, would it be able to be programmed with something like an Autel?

Id see the car reading 1 as 1 2 as 2 and 3 as on as you say but do not think it needs programming and will not hurt the car.

Where is the module?

It's under the driver's seat.

First push, 2 lights. - high
Second push, 1 light. - medium
Third push, 0 lights - low? It's for sure still on
Forth push, 0 lights - off.

You can hear an audible click from the module on 1st and 4th pushes.
