Hum that follows RPM?
So when I bought my SS it came with a full component/sub/amp setup. It’s been fine for the last 2 years but it has now developed a an intermittent hum that follows the rpm of the car. IE the hum is quiet but when the rpms go up the hum gets louder.
Is this a ground issue? I didn’t see anything obvious but since I didn’t install it I’m a bit blind here so was hoping for some pointers.

It could be so many things, you are going to start chasing your tail if you follow all the advice you get here. Maybe open the trunk, pull up the rear cover, and get a picture of what is down there in terms of amps and processors? Maybe someone can get an idea of where to start then.

It’s weird that it would pop up like that after not occurring for so long. Try fading to each speaker- FL, FR, RL, RR. Kinda talking out my a** here, but that might tell you if it’s getting picked up in the speaker wire vs signal or power supply. At least you’ll feel like your getting somewhere.

Thanks guys, I’ll take a pic and post up soon. The problem is they did an awesome guy putting everything in the tire well so most of the wires are hidden haha

I'm going to guess the installed used unshielded wire somewhere he should've used shielded.
And your complaint as described is very odd. Typically any engine noise picked up by an audio system will change frequency with the rpm's, but not amplitude (volume). |
