Launch control on M6 at the track
Anyone with a stock SS M6 try this at the track? What kind of 60' times were you able to get with and without it?
Thanks.

Stock, some have said it was the secret to the best times.
With Mods, not so much.

Any other first hand experience with using launch control on the track (m6 cars only)? I'm interested how far below 2.2s you can get using that feature.

With some seat time you can get to low 1.9s on a stock M6 SS. I have done it without LC and from what I hear others have done it with LC. In either case practice is what you need and good track prep. Be the first car to run right after the slick cars at a test and tune is a good tip. Go around the water and do a light burn to get any water off the tires. Be smooth with the clutch. And wait for good air. More power makes more things possible. Practice, practice, and more practice.

My 1.98 60' on the street tires was with launch control. With the stock tires, that was the best I could get out of it. Without it, I couldn't slip the clutch enough to keep the tires planted.
Once the ProCharger was on, launch control is useless. The car blows right through it like the traction control. The math in the ECM can't compute with more power.

The key with using the LC for the best 60 foots is not dropping the clutch. As that will cut too much timing trying to tame the wheel spin. Let the clutch up more progressively, and it works much better.

Based on feel, I went slower then in the video. But that's all based on feel. In you go too fast it'll bog like crazy.

Post your slip in the sticky thread...we need more SS 1LE's on there...after you improve the 12.6, post the new slip and they will replace the time.

Thanks very much for that input! I'll give this a shot next time I head to the track. Hopefully I can lower my 2.2 s 60' by at least 0.2s.

My best without LC was a 1.83 60' which got me a 12.1 out of a stock M6. I had zero luck at the track with LC I did only give it one shot but I'm not convinced that is the way to the fastest M6 time even stock. On the street LC works decent if they made it adjustable it would be more use I think at the track.

I have only done 60's like that with NT555Rs and more power. There you go OP. DIY, follow the good advice here, and practice.

The thing is I dont launch at a very high rpm I might do between 2-2500 and just slip the clutch a bit to keep tires from blowing off, it almost sounds like it bogs the car a little and found that seems to work best for me I'm not the best at giving advice but just keep practicing with the right DA these cars go fast for stock.
I'm hoping to run the car again soon before any mods, It might sound unrealistic but it think I could get a 11.999 out of it with proper prep and DA. I just want to keep M6 crowd entertained with all these crazy fast autos its just not fair, I get they are faster and more consistent blah blah but I still love shifting and having something to challenge myself on a street night.
