Longevity of the LLT & future swap to LSX
I ordered my beloved 2011 2LT when I was in grad school and only have about 52k on it now. Motors like mine so far seem to last to at least 100k (200k? hopefully). At my rate that might be another 10-15 years but when the motor craps out and the car is almost classic, is it possible to pop an LSX & super magnum in? I know that everything else will have to be upgraded (brakes, suspesion, exhaust) but by that point it will have graduated from my daily (only) to my project car. Thoughts?

By the time you swap everything you'll have a race car because EVERYTHING will need to be swapped.

It's a lot of work, a whole lot. Not nearly as easy as swapping the 4th Gen V6 to a V8. We've done 1 of these swaps so far and while I don't have the customers invoice in front of me right now I can tell you with absolutely certainty he would've come out better selling his V6 and buy an LS3 car.
Unless you're doing the work entirely yourself and have an outstanding hookup on parts (included several GM parts), I would not recommend this swap. Or unless of course money is no object and the car has some sort of sentimental value. |
