What do you guys think about the new engine?
How about the new 4cyl 2.0L Turbo with an estimated 270 hp and 290 lb-ft? You guys think it will be a hit?
Personally, I can't wait to see the first posts from 6cyl guys!! They've had years to save up anger and pick on someone. Those 4cyl guys are gonna get picked on hard!.

I think it'll sell well.... lower insurance rates... better fuel economy and just as stylish... and aimed for those people who want a sports car and don't care for all the power...
smart move for chevy and the Camaro |

I agree. I'm glad to see it. I'd heard some rumors from a client that GM was working on a V4 platform. I was kind of hoping it might show up in the new Camaro. This new turbo should be a lot of fun for the aftermarket. I wonder what kind of boost it can handle?

GM really did not have much choice, IMHO. The EcoBoost version of the new Mustang is selling better than expected, so to compete for the buyers in the market, they pretty much had to offer a 4cylinder option.

I am thinking a salvaged turbo 4 might provide some ...err.. interesting parts to add power to a V6 or V8. Think any aftermarket companies might take advantage of this?

The new Ecoboost doesn't trap as high of MPH in the 1/4 mile stock as the old 2011 - 2014 Mustang V6, and slower on ET too compared to the Mustang V6 with PP option. Ford nurtured the 2015 V6.

The engine is an I4, and I don't care about either engine enough to argue with someone over it.
To me, the V6 offers no value over the turbo 4 if you aren't concerned with trap speeds and ETs at the track. The V6 has more top end power but less torque than the turbo 4. I wouldn't pay extra money for the V6, but clearly there are many that would. |

lol....its going to happen. No doubt. On all sides. T4 vs V6. V6 vs V8. T4 vs V8
V6 should easily be good for 350+ HP with just some simple bolt ons, and while that wouldn't satisfy any "gotta have it" V8 guys, that sounds pretty good to me considering the lighter weight and 8 speed auto (and hopefully gearing options as well). An aggressively tuned T4 will make way more torque than a bolt on V6 and thus will be faster, but making over 350 HP even tuned is not going to be as easy. That's a 80+ HP jump. Tuned T4s make huge tq jumps like that, but not as much in HP. That said...I don't know yet whether I'm going to end up in a V6 or a V8.
