You have to respect the secrecy at GM. Everything else in the world gets leaked or hacked but the only stuff we know is what they've allowed us to see.

The press will be all over Ford's whatevermobiles and thats when Al Oppenheiser shows up and taps a reporter on the shoulder and says "you came to see THIS? LOL. Follow me for a sec"

Oh you guys are being so hopeful in this Holiday season.
First, as I've offered up to you many times, simply go look at the time between first spotting of prototypes for the C7 and even the Gen 5 Camaro and when GM went into production. It's about a year and a half historically simply based on internet searching. The only reason for GM to show the car in January would be if they were going into production in June/July and they aren't. We would have seen the prototypes in January of 2014 for that to happen. I think we saw the first ones in August?? GM hasn't gone from prototype to production in 10 months ever on a major program. As for a "secret showing"? Not very likely. People plan for these things and you want the biggest bang for the buck. As for anyone going up to a reporter and going, "hey come check this out"? Could happen. Chicago for the ZL1 reveal (Z/28 right up to that) was pretty hush hush. But that wasn't a major. What we could see is a "show car". And the sad thing is with what we are seeing in Chezcron's awesome renders, no one could tell the difference. It would be like a show car of the Gen 5 it has changed so little. Also for those thinking that GM will show it to keep people from buying Mustangs? Also not likely. You will simply tank Gen5 sales if you do that. Plus, if it is a late 2015 intro, then you are simply saying don't buy a Camaro now, just wait a year. This can be as damaging to current sales as it can be helpful for hindering Ford. For production to start in June/July, we would see pilot cars in LGR being run with CTF starting in February or March. No indication of this yet. You would be getting the plant ready now with any hope of June/July production. It would have to be the tightest plant changeover ever. I believe you can legally sell a 2015 model up to the last day of the year. That was the case with my 1987 Grand National. GM was able to extend the build beyond the normal September to December. Legally if you cross the calendar year into 2016 you would have to certify the car as 2016 model. Not a huge amount of work, but it could be done. So based on that and the date of first prototype sightings, my guess is a very late 2015 launch. But historically there is simply no evidence other than most of your Holiday hopes and dreams that it will be shown in Detroit. All GM has said is I think Chevy is showing 5 new cars. More likely Volt and Cruze and those high volume intros can't be competing with the Camaro for attention. And as I often say, I hope I'm wrong.

So far all we know for sure is Volt for Detroit. Cruze appears to have completely fallen off the face of the planet, I was expecting it at Detroit as well though.

Holding back the 6th gen to protect 5th gen sales makes no sense. There would have to be a substantial gap between the 5th and 6th gen to keep sales from dropping off.

What I meant is they will eventually have to show the 6th gen and lose on 5th gen sales. Why let Mustang have an all new car for that long anyways?
