I also think its time....but not because I think the 5th gen is getting stale or whatever. Hell I still can't believe how much I am in love with the look of my 5th gen, and it still gets plenty of attention.

But the compeitition is moving forward, and so the Camaro should too. If not the 2016 model, then they had better have something out early in 2016 as an early 2017 model.

That said, (my opinion) I think the Mustang styling is going to get stale fast. Hell, everytime I see the front of a Fusion coming at me I feel like I'm staring at the new Mustang. The Mustang is an evolution of a current design language Ford is using, so its kind of a "we've seen this before" look. Its a nice looking car, don't get me wrong.

But the Camaro was all new, and there wasn't anything, exotic or not, on the road like it.

The way I see it - the success of the gen5 is going to cut into the sales of the 6th gen. I doubt many here are going to jump ship immediately to get a gen6. And it doesn't appear it's going to be anything vastly superior to the competition's offerings, so it's not like we'll be seeing droves of Ford or Chrysler owners flocking suddenly to GM.

This, I am one of those. I was waiting for the 2015. now I want a look at the 16 before I do anything. I love the first gen and the 15 if the 16 is similar but updated a bit and lighter I'm in. If we go second gen I'm out . I'm kinda glad the 5th gen is ending, it will either be a classic or a stepping stone to greater things but not totally overbuilt numbers wise.

Not GM's you waited to purchase your Camaro recently. Current model has been 2010. So a 2016 model is right on time.

Heck, back in early 2011, they announced the new Camaro convertible. I went to the dealer and place an order for one right away in Jan of 2011. Finally got a TPW of sometime in March, and before I could get my new convertible they announce the ZL1?

This ain't fair, I had just ordered mine before they were announced, and already they have something better??? bummer.

but then again they didn't come out with a ZL1 convertible that year anyway.

I think it's part of Murphey's Law.

As soon as you decide to order something it will be obsolete.

If the car truly is lighter, and I like the look, AND bright purple metallic is back...

I'll be trading in my 2013 the second it's paid off

I'm not sure I can ever part with my 2013. The 2014's are really nice but the early 5th gen really stole my heart. I guess that sounds lame. But I was 20 when they first unveiled the 5th gen and it was everything I ever wanted from a Camaro. I grew up idolizing chevelles, 67-69 mustangs, 60's camaro's, basically the 60's. But I wasn't rich and my parents couldn't help me with anything, I didn't even get my first car til I was 20. I turned to my friend the first time I saw the refresh and i said "I'm going to buy one of those one day." It took me 7 long hard working years to be able to get funds, credit and a job able to pay for it. This car represents a lot more to me than just a car, it's all my hard work personified.

When I finish my apprenticeship and am making really good money I may than splurge on a V8 down the road. I just don't think I can ever part with my 2013, it's exactly the car I always wanted. Who knows though lol

It's not a Cadillac platform. The alpha is a GM designed platform for performance cars.

It definitely slows me down on any mods I might have been planning. But I think by 2016 I will be ready. The trick is to buy at the beginning of the model cycle so you are always ready to upgrade when the new one comes out!

Alpha will do it way better than Zeta.

I can't wait to see what they do with the 6th gen.
5th gen really is getting stale. I'm sure I'll get flack for saying so but the design is essentially 8 years old by this point.

Another way of looking at it: the 5th gen design is as old as the W-body Impala Limited that's now been relegated to rental and government/police fleets.
