The examples you listed show it has happened with other cars. Also, the Corvette skipped a model year, if I recall correctly.
You can build a 2015 up until December 31st, 2015. But on January 1st you have to in compliance with all 2016 regulations and be a 2016 model. So a 2016 Camaro can start production this spring (I.e. 2010 Camaro started production in the spring of 2009) or it can start in 2016. Or as you suggest you could call it 2017 and skip 2016 like the 1983 Corvette.

You guys are so impatient.

Ther is a wel defined plan that GM has no intent or obligation to share no matter how much you hope........or hold your breath. The latter not being recommended.

Its OT but I'll throw out what you're thinking of:
1983. The Corvette wouldn't have met new CA emissions so 42 of the 43 preproduction models were destroyed. They were not going to have time to reengineer the car in time to release as an '83, so they just fixed the issu and then got back underway for model year '84.

1) Hopefully they're taking time to test a whole new lineup of engines

2) Holding out for a big splash in a Super Bowl commercial !!

They already stated that there will be no advertisement for Chevrolet at all.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391862

After I heard that it was not being revealed in Detroit, that was my next hope which was the superbowl.

If I were a betting man, I would immagine it will be with in one of the soon upcoming shows, either Chicago or NY. But Number is right (it appears in most cases) patience is a virtue. but we all like discussing about it..

If you read the article, the GM rep who says no Super Bowl ads also said the reveals won't be until the second half of 2015.

He said "introductions" not reveals.

Put yourself at ease, the 6th gen will be available in Q4. If you want to place a friendly wager on that ($100?) , PM me I will gladly take your money.

I agree. Very misleading word choice on his part though.

A couple of points:

1) As Number 3 and Fen can attest, there is an extensive course offered just for "properly interpreting" GM communiques. That, or years of experience "separating the wheat from the chaff".

2) The sudden impact of a possible "reveal" of the Gen-6 Camaro @ Super Bowl does NOT require, nor in fact should it have, a commercial. Roll one out, plastered in the MVP winner's Team colors with so many logos that effectively act as camo, give the keys to the winner and then announce it's "unwrapping" @ Chicago Auto Show in a dozen days. Like the old Heinz catsup commercials used to say, A-N-T-I-C-I-P-A-T-I-O-N!
