Proven Cooling Methods

So since the holiday season is just around the corner, I'm thinking my next mod MAY be cooling (already have intake, headers, tune, TB). Before I up the power with a pulley I'd like to address possible cooling issues. I already have the D3 tank, and I've heard that a larger HEX is only good if you do something about the intercooler core itself (only as good as the weakest link). My question is, what are proven cooling methods? I'm also considering meth as well.

For me personally my end goal is probably around 600 rwhp.

Water/Meth for sure. I think that's your next step for sure so that you can see an improvement in power but in IAT's.

I had the RX chiller on my other Camaro and it was the biggest POS I have ever seen, I had leaks and other issues.. I know it was a (poor) copy of other chiller systems and Tracy @ RX is a joke. BUT still that has basically ruined the chiller or any similar system for me.

Meth is a proven method. BUT (and I am ready for everyone to disagree) if you run meth through a single nozzle pre-blower, you run the risk of uneven atomization between the cylinders. If you are running more timing, and a cylinder isnt getting meth, you have a problem. If i was going the meth route, i would get a direct port setup just like they do for nitrous.

While having an improved intercooler core would be a be one of the most beneficial things, I can say that my D3PE HX has definitely lowered my IAT's, alot depends on your mixture of fluid in the system too. I'm probably 1/4 Antifreeze, 2 bottles of Super Coolant and then the rest distilled water.

Got any data for what your IAT's were at the start and finish of a run before and after the install of the h/e?

knock on wood ive had no issues with "tracey's version". I have compared iats with some other zl-1's at our track and there is nothing that can keep you as cool as a chiller. my iats after back to back runs never exceed 65 degrees. even my tuner was impressed how low my iats stay. air cannot cool like Freon ever! nor will melting bags of ice!

@white 2SS - I also run the D3PE HX - IAT2s with my mods were pushing 200* after a pull on the dyno during the summer (figure starting temps around 100*). After the swap, temps climbed to about 130*. The intercooler within the supercharger is indeed the limiting factor. Its not very big.

Exactly. However I have yet to see a good aftermarket intercooler swap.

so the ability to have that intercooler brick super chilled by Freon via chiller system is hands down the best as your air charge going over it will be way cooler than any air to water heat exchanger can ever do

I seem to have very good cooling right now. Haven't had any really high temps to test it though. I have about 3.5 gallons in the trunk and route water from supercharger directly to Ron Davis intercooler in grill then back to reservoir in trunk.
