Tinted our tail lights "SEMA" style...

Got tired of waiting on GM to release them, and got REALLY tired of staring at the all red, so we just tinted them SIMILAR to the tail lights at SEMA...

Just posting to show what you can easily do at home with spray tint OR do what we did, which is what I recommend, and use real film tint.

Takes patience with soap, water and a razor blade but came out great (much better than stock IMHO) and if we can do it you can do it

NOTE: They look a lot more "black" in person. The sun was bright so in pictures the red shown through more than it really does...

We'll eventually probably paint them satin black when we get ready for SEMA but in person these look gloss black, it's just the sun was reflecting on the red inside (you know, doing it's job lol!) so they look a lot less black than they are...

Oh. My.

Yes. Major yes.

Could you please post a few more pics where the sun isn't making the extra red show through? So that we can get a better idea of how these appear in person?

I would be very interested in doing this on my car if it was possible to make the extra red parts "BLACK-black" instead of just "kinda darker" as those pics make them appear. Also looking forward to seeing what the satin black paint does to the look of them.

The car I ordered is Nightfall Grey Metallic as well. I like how these tail lights look on that color a lot.

Any chance the hood will be similar to the zl1 hood? Or hints of the style you guys are doing?

Looks good!! Looks like a variation of what I did with mine. Mine has a bit darker of a surround and tinted white parts. Very nice work. Anyone can do this with a 12" X 24" sheet of lamin-X and some practice and patience.

Really awesome!

I'd like to see what this looks like with the tinted inserts that cover the white portion (which I bought from another vendor here...I don't think 6LE sells them?). I'm not sure if that might be "too much" tint or not. I think I almost like these with the white showing more than it would be with these tints combined with the reverse tints.

Dave1SS I think had some shots like that on his custom job.
