Measuring the Z28 against other cars

If you take the time at the point where the Z28 is on the bump before the banked corner in the Nurburgring video to the time it crosses the line where the paint changes on the fence. You can get an idea as to how fast the car is compared to other cars. I believe the Z28 is 16 seconds with a passenger and the ZL1 was 17 with just the driver.

Ok, I know that a lot of things can effect this but I just put the Z28 against the koenigsegg one and the Z squeaked it or it was kind of to hard to tell. I brought both videos into FCPX matched them up at the bump and then split screened them

Be careful here. Different cars have different strengths. For example, the Z/28 carried a higher exit speed in multiple corners @ VIR than the Porsche 918 and if you were to measure from the corner exit out 200 yards you would think the Z/28 would have beat or at least matched the 918 in lap time. Yet, the 918 beat the Z/28 by 7 second in lap time. Any car can be fast at one particular part of any track. The best cars do it all well so while I admire your enthusiasm, you are not going to get an accurate portrayal of the overall performance of the car with that small of a sample size.

Thanks for that but I didn't have a whole lot of footage to work with. What was interesting was the Z28 was a second faster than the ZL1 through the same area. correction, I have looked at some more new footage of the ZL1 that just came out ( Red auto and a Blue manual) that looks like they are setting down some times and the auto is just as fast through that section. After seeing this I just hope they offer the auto for the Z28.

You also are assuming that each driver was going at 100%. I'm sure that there are times when they are testing different things with the car where they aren't pushing it all the way. Maybe at certain times they want to see what throttle tip-in out of a corner does to the car, so they back it down a bit.

Thank you, I understand this isn't going to be super accurate but I just found it interesting so I thought I would share it. Like if you see a car doing dramatically faster times then it will have very good cornering and acceleration which is pretty important in going fast around a circuit track.

I agree with Eddie in that he has found a fun, interesting bench racing thing there. I mean, we don't have enough data yet to do it right. But the other guys are dead on that this won't be accurate for the reasons listed.

Still fun!

Sure it's fun to see certain comparisons and what not, but the best comparisons are the ones that have the Camaro's enter a corner with a Mercedes or a Porsche right behind them and then 2 corners later the Camaro pulls bus lengths on them lol.

It's neat to see in that video including the 16 ZL1, 16 Aero car, 16 1LE, and 15 Z/28 the differences in corner speeds. It was clear that the Aero car and the Z/28 held their corners faster thanks to the super-sticky tires they were wearing.
