would you purchase a Buy back?
was looking in to a 2012 SS that is a couple hours from here and learned today it is a buy back vehicle that GM fixed and supposedly has an additional 12 months of warranty coverage on it from GM. Does that sound right? Would you consider it?

My car was bought back by GM and sold through a dealership in South Dakota. It was a first week production 1SS Vert Auto. My problems, seat bottom tore, rear window trim fell off, replaced top, botched job, needed another one, both rear window regualtors went out, top handle broke, brake reservoir leaked, paint chipped off the doors. That is about all I can remember off the top of my head. This all happened in the first 3 months of ownership and less than 3 thousand miles. Personally, they are lemons that are not titled as such cause GM bought them back. I would stay the hell away from one.

I bought an 05 GTO in 2006 that was a buy back. The owner complained repeatedly that the rear end made noise. I had the car for a year, put 14,000 miles on it and never heard a thing from the rear end.

It all depends on why they bought it back. For 10 years I was in charge of buy backs in S fla for BMW as the market manager.. I bought 2 or 3 cars back because we could not get the wipers to stop chattering due to a parts problem. I'd buy that one...Sometimes things get bought back because one part cannot be supplied - even off the line- in time to meet the state buy back laws...so ask what happened...

That's a tough one I work for a dealer and sometimes people can't afford veh and find a loophole to get veh bought back and there's always a chance it is messed up.
It would probably have to be more than 3 grand for me to take it because figure over 5 years of payments that's only 30-40 bucks per month Could be a huge headache |

The choice is yours and I would hate if you regretted it.
If its something you could unload if it was in fact defective I guess what the hell It will either be a killer deal or learning experience.maybe it will be fine for I don't think dealer want to go to court for selling a known bad veh Hope it works out for you |

If you can get a 3 year, 36k mile warranty with it I would go for it as long as you get a great price...that way everything is covered no matter what goes wrong. Its a win win! Just don't void the warranty haha.
